FOOTBALL:
Nigeria’s Super Eagles may have a new man in the saddle at next year’s FIFA World Cup finals as one of the coaches being touted to tinker the team, Guus Hiddink failed to qualify for the mundial with the Russian national team.
Hiddink, alongside former Inter Milan coach, Roberto Mancini, Marco Van Basten, Republic of Ireland’s Giovanni Trapattoni and Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh, who was captain of Super Eagles during the Ghana/Nigeria 2000 African Nations Cup finals were shortlisted by Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s led Presidential Task Force which was instituted to ensure Nigeria’s qualification to the World Cup.
Russia on Wednesday lost 1-0 against Slovenia in the second leg of their European play-off fixtures.
Diniar Bilyaletdinov’s brace in the first leg at the Luzhniki Stadium on Saturday was not enough as Slovenia’s last-gasp goal scored by Nejc Pecnik gave the Slovenians a chance to cancel the deficit.
This they did and grabbed a 1-0 win which may now open the door for the Presidential Task Force instituted by President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to ensure Nigeria’s qualification to the World Cup to go for their man, Hiddink who led South Korea to the semi-finals stage of the World Cup in 2002.
PTF have made no bones of their displeasure with Eagles handler Shaibu Amodu’s handling of Nigeria’s qualification campaign.
Head of the Task Force, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State openly called for Amodu’s sack even as he qualified Nigeria on Saturday in Nairobi. Amaechi boycotted the last qualifying match because of his strong views against Eagles handlers.
Hiddink was briefly in charge of Chelsea and had earlier handled PSV Eindhoven and Real Madrid.
Also on Wednesday, Giovanni Trapattoni, the Republic of Ireland manager whose team played a 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles on May 29, 2009 in an international friendly went into extra time with his charges after a pulsating 90 minutes of action against France at Stade de France.
Let’s call a spade a spade, Amodu is good local coach but not a World Cup finals material. Therefore we should hire Guus Hiddink as the new head coach for our Super Eagles and allow Amodu to assist/learn from him during the next comming world cup after which he could take over after Hiddink’s tenure. No sentiment pls!!
Rotimi may God bless you please save us from this rub my back i rub your NFF. Please get sombody better and sideline this funny grandpa’s. We dont want anymore God fatherism dat is robbinng us of OUR ONLY SOURCE OF JOY as a nation
let them get Guss Hinddink to take us to world cup as we can not allow Amodu to take a team without system of play to take to South Africa 2010. God Bless Nigeria
I I hope this news is not just to whet Nigerians appetite for the much-needed change in Super Eagles. I hope we can get it right, at least for once, I wish Nigerian ancient demon – corruption, will taunted this dream. Amodu is the best local coach we have, but he is not good enough to perform at the top level bring a coach in class of Hiddick will take Nigeria football to the next level.
Thanks Gov. Rotimi Amaechi. Amodu doesn’t have the tactical knowledge to lead Nigeria to the World cup. As much as I would have loved an Indigenous of this country to lead the Super Eagles to the World I still want us to give a good account of ourselves at mundial. Frankly Amodu should learn from the new man that’ll be coming in to coach our beloved team. 9ja 4 life!!!!!!!!! Great nation good people!!!
As far as im concern,Amodu can not win a match in the world cup.he doesnt have the technical know how.we qualified 4 d w/c is just by his grace and with a well reputable coach, even d referees will respect the team n avoid unnecessary mistakes.guus is d best choice plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
this your so called experts could not win a match just like berti vogt
let amodu have the chance before the world and then we judge him cest fini
this guys want to share from the expert and take away God glory on amodu so bad a country celebrating a failure against our hero? two world cup ticket and he is not good? who is gov. ameachi? political criminal envious of amodu records? want has he won for nigeria? than steal……
I just read on the KICK OFF website and in the NIGERIAN TRIBUNE this morning that Lulu is swearing to leave Amodu as the Man in charge of the National team. That did not anger me as much as the Nigerians who wrote comments on the Site backing Lulu that Amodu should stay. If we have not learned our lessons now, when would we learn! How can a sound mind, after all the GAMBLING that we saw Amodu perpetrate in the qualifiers, want such a person to stay? GOD by himself is the one who qualified us for the Wrold cup not Amodu, probably because he saw the yearnings of poor Nigerians and also probably because he knows that with the crop of talents that we have in Football, we could be one of the only contries that can make Africa proud. He (God) has done his own part, now is the time to do our own. If Mozambique could qualify for the Nations Cup at the expence of Tunisia with a TEAM that lacks NAMES all because of the Technical depth of their coach, what more would Nigeria do at the Nations cup and the World cup if wehave a coach who KNOWS HIS JOB and would not always depend on LUCK. I just pray that the PTF would stand firm on their resolution because i do not know what Lulu and Amodu are up to, but whatever it is, i know that it is never in the interest of the Nation. Guss Hiddink has not qualified the Russian National team for the World cup, but the FA still want to keep him. Would Lulu have kept Amodu if we had not qualified for the World cup BY THE GRACE OF GOD??????

good luck nigeria. for more on african football, visit http://www.africaplays.com/forum/topic100.html
I wonder why some Nigerians are always on the rush in virtually everything we do. How on earth can some people be clamouring for hiring a coach that failed to deliver to take over from one that played nine matches, winning six and drawn three and eventually qualified us for the mundial just because we want immediate result. It has always being in our blood to celebrate failures and mediocres. To those that are campaigning for the sacking of Amodu and hiring the know-it-all fpreign coach, I think they should also be campagining for the return of governemnt to our slave master – the colonial era because our government at various levels have failed us. So why not hire the likes of Bill Clinton, Gaddafi, John Kuffour, Mandela. Barrack Obama and the likes to run our governemnt for us. To be candid, let’s forget about this idea of only-white-man-can-do-it syndromme. Let’s support our own, let’s encourage them, give them free hand to operate, give them half of what would have been given to the foreign coach and see how well they would perform. you would agree with me that of all the foregin coaches that have been coming to this country, it’s only Westerholf that have made any remarkable impact not necessarily because of his superior technical-know-how of the game but beacuse he was given free hand to operate as a result of his closeness to the seat of power then. A word is enough for the wise.
We should retain Amodu and support him to do more. The negative clamour to sack him for an outsider that does,nt even know the team is at best, scandalous. The coach that qualified the team for the world cup should be allowed to lead them there.I thought they said thunder does,nt strike in the same place twice!
Only God knows what Lulu and his co-hort are up to as regards Nigeria football, i was n’t surprise to hear Lulu insisting on Amodu since both are feeble minded, but what shock me most was the comments of most Nigerian, supporting the idea, am perplexed because with this kind of people Nigeria has know future. Well am fully in support of the task force to get a good manager that knows his onions for us. Hiddink remains the best choice!
God bless Nigeria. God is Nigerian and a super eagle player. who else would have done dis 4 us if not God? God has done is part it is left 4 us to do our own part. It is not Amodu that qualified us 4 the w/c it isGod that did it. Amodu should remain as the coach, but a foreign technical adviser should employed to help. NIGERIA GREAT NATION GOOD PEOPLE </[][][]/
i think that Nigerians are building castles on air, whats makes you think the big guus, would want to coach Nigeria..i bet you..there are going to be many functional football federations lining up for his signature..our fed is very unstable to handle a man like guus.. it would take a lot from the NFF to hire a coach of his caliber. sincerely if i was guus Nigeria is a place i would go if there are no other viable options and Guus is no such person..
As for Amodu…. the idea of letting him stay could only be brewed in a country like Nigeria, a man with the football knowledge of the days of bbc/bcc gboko- am not quite sure what it is called.. but that football idea is so outdated, its obviously older than i am. The man clearly has no idea of how the modern game is played. here in Sweden.. Lars Largerback, despite his attractive football resigned by him self cos he believed that he has given enough to his national team.
The sad thing about Amoudu is that some nigerians feel he could stay not because he is qualified beyond doubts, but because they feel we owe it to him.. wtf..they feel nemesis would befall Nigeria if Amodu is not allowed to kill the only source of pride to most Nigerians both home and abroad.. as i said earlier,,THIS COULD ONLY HAPPEN IN NIGERIA..and that is why we are backward in every sector.
well lets call a spade a spade, how can we replaced a man who got nigeria to the worldcup with one who could not do same with a better team than nigeria, lets go back the memory lane, each time we replaced a coach we have the worst performance from our team example onigbinde replaced amodu in 2002 and we manged a draw in 3 matches, after replacing austin egavon with voft what happen in ghana 2008, so please just combine siasia and amodu and see what great flying egales will be produce for the world cup
I don’t think bring a outsider can help, and that of sunday oliseh I don’t know is capabilities.what I think is amaduooooooo should allow some fresh hands to help him, people like samson siasia, sunday oliseh, cos we really need to build a winning term.
I really do not care abt Amodu’s results can’t we see that with due respect to him he lacks technical and tactical depth. We can see that from the play of the eagles since he took over.Don’t u guys watch other countries play and enjoy football?I only watch our matches cos i’m a nigerian and want the best for us and the best is definitely not Amodu.Does Sani Lulu have authority over the PTF???
i was dazed seeing a comment made by som1 yesterday abt amodu playing about 12 matches in d qualifying series without a first-eleven.i didnt even notice dat until he said it.The question i ask my sef ws dat are we goin to allow a coach who cannot raise a first-eleven team in d period of 1yr to take us to d biggest footbal tournament on earth?dis is a competitn where d world best re goin 2b paraded nd we jus wnt 2risk goin dere wit a coach who lacks d technical know.he dosnt even av d pedigree.we’ve seen coaches lik mourinho who’s influence even wif d media is amazing cos he blv he knws d job.even wen he gets tins wrong, its had 2knw bcos peeps respect him.A club dt wil playin his team am sure will say,”the fair of mourinho is d beginin of wisdom” even wen he’s paradin a weak team.dats fearing both d coach nd a team even b4 u tk on ur opponent.I tink d best we can give 2 amodu is 2tk us to d nations cup @risk but nt d world cup.lik oders,i support GUUS nd prolly SIaSIA to assist if he’s willin to tk d offer.i tink bringin sia1 will hep d foreigner to get familiar wif d terrain faster.
Hello Nigeria, Hallow wicked people of Nigeria, some of u are in support of Amodu to stay on bcos u are having a kick back frm him God will punish all of u that want to ridicule this nation bcos of one spoon of garri u want to gain. Those of u suggesting indiginous coach, if u are a bit patrotic why dont u mention good indiginous coach like samson siasia to take us to south africa u are very wicked. I salute u Gov. Ameachi for yr courage despite some people said u stole yr state treasure, u are technical sound that is why u are not indicted therefore amodu shld let the supper eagle alone what we want is technics to make us win maches not to draw matches. We prefer Gius Hindick and Marco Van bastern to giovani and machini bcos it is only Dutch coach and Brazilian coach that can take our football to grater height. and as for Sunday Oliseh we dont need him bcos his arrogancy in supper eagle culuminate to the indiscipline we are experiencing today. so if u want indiginous coach call on Samson Siasia God bless 9Ja
Guus with all the arshavin of this world cannot qualify Russian team for the world cup. Yet, we want to go on our kneels and beg him to come and coach Nigeria. So we can win the world cup? We still love modern slavery in this country. God will not forgive anybody that waist Nigerian Tax payers money on foreign coach. Vogts collected his own and ran away, the worst result in a Nation’s cup final in the last 30 years. Leave Amodu alone and let him reap the fruit of his labor, at least he qualified us for this world cup. Our impatient we always leads us to catastrophe. Guus will join the next available flight from south Africa and run away. Not guus naa guguru.
How many million dollars do the PTF want to pay another expatriate to take Nigeria to the second round of the World Cup again. This circus has gone on for too many times. Remember Bora and Berti. Can Hiddink swear that he will give us the World Cup? We have a lot of problems that need money to solve back home? Our economy needs bail out, our education system needs money to pay teachers and lecturers, poor children need scholarship and subsidised medical care, new roads need to be constructed and old roads need repair and maintenance, our hospitals are struggling to survive, doctors are crying for salary every day and brain drain is happening, we cannot subsidise our fuel, our power sector is nothing to write anything about, other sports like boxing, basketball, swimming, taekwando and athletics are underfunded and have been totally abandoned by NSC who are jostling with NFF for who will be praised for our foot ball performances. Amodu has been collecting local salary for international job and qualified us for world cup and we are still disatisfied with him. He has done better than Hiddink who could not qualify Russia for World Cup with higher expatriate salary and we are still disatisfied with him. We would rather spend dollars on expatriate for second round world cup position when Amodu may even with the grace of God do better at less cost to the masses of this country. Na wa O. I wonder what is it that we really want.
In my opinion, we should strengthen our technical team instead of disrupting the whole process. If we go down the memory lane, we will observe that all the time that we qualify and change technical crew, we did not do better at the competition. Kindly recall the following coaches qualified us for world cup at different times but handed over to whom people thought have the magic wand, the results were there for us. Troussier handed over to the so called WORLDCUP FIRST CLASS coach BORA, and Amodu handed over to Onigbinde.
It is however of note that Amodu played 12 competitive matches, without loosing any one. He won 9 matches and drew 3. If he knows nothing and God helped him to achieve what he has achieved, why should we go for a coach that God will not help and is unable to qualify the country he might have handled for world cup or mention any past player that has not manage any known team at club level not to talk of national team. In as much as we want to show class at the world cup we don’t want to go and play jogo bonito that everybody will clap hands for us and come back with bagful of goals. Let us choose between play and win or display samba and loose.
One thing that is sure is that it takes concerted effort and time to put a better team together, which is not within 1 or 3 months as most people are claiming and we do not have time to start rebuilding a team. The Swiss under 17 that is the current U-17 world cup holder, were together for 3 years as mentioned by their coach and not Nigeria’s team put together in a hurry (that is why people will think of cheating or any means of achieving victory without adequate planning).
NEVERTHELESS NFF SHOULD NOT ACT ON IMPULSE.
Amodu is not a coach to take super eagles to world cup, so the earlier we look for better coach the better for Nigeria.
Thank you Gov. Rotimi Ameachi & PTF for taking a bold step to hire Hinddick as our technical Adviser hope AMODU Being his assistance will not cause rancor among the players i.e forming gang which will hinder any good idea the new technical adviser has for the team.I will prefer siasia or John Obuh to assist Hinddick for better performance & to move Nigeria FootbalI to the next level.
HOW ON EARTH CAN NIGERIANS BE THIS UNGRATEFULL & UNMINDFULL OF THEIR COMMENTS. THIS IS SOME BODY THAT QUALIFIED US IN 2002 WORLD CUP & HIS APPOINTMENT WAS TERMINATED BCOS OF SOME FLIMSY EXCUSE.IF WE SACK AMODU, WILL OUR PROBLEMS BE SOLVED? WHAT WE NEED IS TOTAL OVER HAULING OF THE ENTIRE SPORT BODY & IT SHOULD NOT START FROM AMODU.SACK AMODU & INCURE THE ANGEROF GOD.
Now that Hiddink does not qualify Russia for the World cup,Nigeria should approach him and see if he will like to come.Again can the NFF pay him?.
In as much as I support Amodu’s removal, I would also not support the call for a foreigner most especially when we have someone like Samson Siasia available. Let me remind those clamoring for Amodu’s stay based on the 6 wins – 3 draws basis that a 1-0 win by Tunisia at Mozambique could have rubbished this theory instantly. I believe Amodu is a good coach but he compromised with the wrong people by sticking to out-of-form players in a country full of footballers that could take us places. Siasia’s strength lies in having a mind of his own without fear or favour. This strength is Amodu’s weakness and NFF’s headache.
If you guys clamouring for Amodu to remain has Super Eagles coach want to depart this life of heart attack I certainly don’t want to die of HA. Please get rid of Best local coach Amodu and bring in someone that ‘s competent enough to take Eagles to the world cup. We don’t want to go to the world cup and be humiliated. Good bless 9ja
Na beg I dey beg
For Nigeria to make any meaningful impact in the world cup, a sound, tested and exposed coach has to be on their bench. The consideration of Hiddink as the likely coach of the Super Eagles is a dent on the image of NIgeria. A man (Hiddink) who was not able to qualify Russia for the world cup, does not have what it takes to tutor a highly talented team in the likes of the Super Eagles. Our football administration needs total overhaul, because they lack the capacity to take the country to the height we belong. A country that was rated the 5th best in the world before `USA 94` cannot go for any less than a world rated coach, not even Hiddink.
The most successful foreign coaches we’ve had in Nigeria (Westerhof&Bonfere Joe)spent years (5-6yrs)of ups and downs befoere achieving height. Why can’t we be patient for once and give our local coaches the same measure of long term all- round support before we can say they are actually bad or not. Thanks
GREAT NATION GOOD PEOPLE, I SUPPORT THE EMPLOYMENT OF HIDDINK AS THE TECHNICAL ADVISER OF THE TEAM WHILE AMODU CAN BE HIS ASSISTANT IN OTHER FOR AMODU TO UNDER STUDY HIM DURING HIS TENURE AS THE HEAD.
It is a welcome development i support the hiring of Guus Hiddink even though Russia did not qualify for world cup he is a good coach but i want to appeal to the authorities concern that such deal should be made a long term at least 5-6years to enable him build future squad but not only looking for successes at the nations cup in Angola and World Cup in South African.
bring Westerhof
well done PTF,but give him free hand and more time to builded the team now and in future.
I support you Frank with all the problems we are facing in Nigeria now where people find it difficult to eat ordinary 2 meals in aday, cannot pay scools fees of Children no light e.t.c. Ameachis are fails politichians who want to use success in the world Cup to make Nigerians continue to suffer and be smilling so that they can continue with thier Looting.in fact if not for my sympath to Osase i would have prefare we did not qualifiy so that our failled leaders will; be exposed.
I Ve never been an Amodu supporter check all my past comments ……but if not for our complex how can you remove a coach that qualified his country to the W/C to the foreinger who colud not ? If they are sincere how did Oliseh name prop in ?…..rather than bring this Coaches let us support our own . If need be at all let them bring Westerhoof who is almost Nigerian and a tested Coach in Nigerian to support Amodu and bring in Siasia to understudy them and then take over after the World Cup..
This is funny! A coach who has been able to qualify his country for the WC is going to be sacked and replaced by a coach who could not qualify his own country. I’m not making a case for Amodu, but to be sincerely, the whole thing looks very funny.
The problem with Nigeria is that we are too sentimental and probably more catholic than the pope! We all saw and witnessed how our super eagles under Amodu struggled endlessly before winning each game. Now,how many of the leading African countries in football has indigenious coaches?. What do we stand to gain from Amodu’s continuous stay? Another heartache?
Odili, I have been thinking about what you wrote, but I’m sorry it can’t work. I’m so sure Amodu and Siasia cannot work together. My reasons? They don’t play the same style of football; their technic and tactics are not the same. Who would have overriding say? This would be greatest mistake of the time and the worst thing that would happen to our football. Please Odili, do not mention that thing again-O!
My God , why is that is after qualification now that we will start looking for a coach? They did the same thing to Amodu some years back. What a N FF we have. Who is saying that Hiddinks is ready for Eagle’s job? ok , let us say we want better technical crew for World cup fine. But let us also know that is not matter of coachonly, we suppose to hire a pyschology to work on our players they lack conmitment, concentration, perseverence, disinpline etc. Even if we hire World class coach, if certain things like this is not done, super eagle may still flop.
Our qualifying for the world cup was simply by God’s divine intervention.I was somewhat tempted to believe that God is a Nigerian after watching that energy-sucking match between Kenya and Nigeria. With much respect to Amodu,we need someone who is technically sound in the modern game instead of depending on old glory.Amodu lacks technical know-how as regard modern football.Do we all watch the same matches played by super eagles? They matches were simply boring, unenterprising, unstylish and quite Un-Nigerian.All matches handled by Amodu so far gives a false impression about Nigerian football.Pls let’s rectify this now because we can’t afford to disappoint Africa. We are respected all over the world for good football which is the direct opposite of what I have watched under GOLDEN coach Amodu.World cup is no child’s play neither is it an experimentation ground for mediocres.PTF should kindly treat this issue as urgent.
This debate will continue till the kick off in SA 2010. But if I were Lulu, I will leave Amodu to stay because hiring even an angel now is not a guarantee that we would do well in SA. Let Amodu completed what he started. He has passed the first huddle, let him face the next. Even if he fails at the Nations Cup I would still allow him to go to the WC. I will then make a long-term decision after the WC, which would be either to sign Amodu to be in charge till the next WC (if he does well) or hire a good coach to be in charge till the next WC. Changing coaches everyday does not help matters in football.
Why change a winning team? Amodu has done with Nigeria what Hidink could not do with Russia. This is a man coming to take Nigeria to the WC a second time. Seeing the promise land twice and not entering. Even Moses will not stand this!
We can bring him as a Technical director but Amodu is the WC coach. Nigeria Love your own. You cannot make Hiddink the first coach to win the WC for a foreign nation.
im still saying it that Amodu does not posses the knowledge of modern football, not technical sound, tacctical blunder, my own point of view is that does Nigeria National Team player, is playing according to what they re teaching them in their respective club side and in a case like this it will very difficult 4 them to play together, the way they’re playing in their respective club, but what i xpect Amodu to do is to tell those guysthat , u re al professional but my own pattern of play is different from what u’re playing in ur club with limited tyme they wud undestand each other. Nigeria need some1 who tachnical sound
Is Hiddinck going to win the world cup? Hell no Is he better than Amodu? The outlined facts will help you answer. How many of our super eagles can make the Russian team? I will say none. Who in our team is in the class of Arshavin? The answer is none. In fact their team is lined with world class players and goal keeper. Despite all the this, Hiddinks could not make Russia qualify for the world cup even after play off but Amodu did with shoe string players and the back-bitting NFF; not forgetting the meddling Rotimi Amaechi who suddenly has become a voice in Nigeria football because he rode on the back of Odili to become governor. Shame on you Nigerians! Amodu deserves better.
JAY P (LONDON)
@mike pls stop insulting poeple is not good even if they steal.( baba God they for haeven dey wait for all of them). to be frank we need some one to assist amodu he cant do it alone pls let put all sentiment aside, we no is good but he needs help even the blind man knows that.@bob na true talk u dey talk so but poeple like mike i sure dem go understand, untill we no fit reach second round na that time thier eye go clear.@innoma no body is saying sack amodu, all what we are saying is look for some to assist that all.
Well you are all right in amodu job but too be frank sacking amodu will that stop the problems of nigeria football, and apartfrom that employ foreign coach can that help us win the cup, i white man will not take us to semifinal. My fellow football fans i like all for your passion that you show for the game, you all no the in people in the power particular rotimi is looking for way too take nigeria money away, rotimi is not a football lover . Finally let all support and prayer amodu and nigeria football; THAT IS THE POWER NAIJA
The media should stop peddling mere fas.You and i know that Hiddnick cannot and will not work in Nigeria. We need somedoby who is ready to get his hands soiled by actually living in the country.identify and dewvelop budding stars just as done by Westerhoff,Hiddnick is not the man go ask Australia.
These is outside our very poor and well documented admin status as reflected by the NFF.pLEASE FORGRT IT.
Nigeria I hail thee…
It is only in our country a presidential task force will be mmeting to decide the way forward as regards hiring or firing coach.
It is also in Nigeria that a coach will be sacked for commiting a sin of leading his country to the world cup only to be replaced by a coach who could not qualify for this same tournament handling a team favoured to do so.
I wish my governor will remember that if possible, some of us will have clamour for the engagement of a foreign technical adviser on govenance. Their failures are visible everywhere from inpassable road, to no light, mortuaries in the name of hospitals etc. they should leave football to those responsible and face their task which they are failing.
Siasia is a good coach when he has long time to prepare his team. He has shown that when the time is short, he losses idea (Egypt 09). Remember the looks on Amodu’s face when the team is not performing is a reflection of pain and love for his country which is enough to fire him on. A foreign coach will come take your money and leave with the excuse of “no enough time to prepare” when he fails. Watch out for Eagles in the Nations cup and see a remarkable change in play style, commitment and passion.
we have gone this road before and it led ud no where. eguavon was sacked after leading us to 3rd place in the AFCON only for Berti to earn us a new name of super chiken.
Lulu, we are with you as you bodly take a decision best for our football. Do not allow politician whose prefered team is arsenal to mislead you
na wao 4 our people, every Nigerian knows that amodu is not a coach but a spectator. do u want to tell me that heavy weights in football like England with the best local league are fools engaging the services of a foreign coach.in Africa, great football nations like Cameroon, ivory coast,Ghana, south Africa etc haven’t they have local coaches? but they opted 4 the best that is why they are progressing. friends u cannot give what u don’t have. Amodu doesnt have anything therefore he cannot give out anything to the team. Guud is the best option with Oliseh as his assistant, this will give us d desired result. God bless Gov Amechi n his P.T.F he will give him second tenure.
The problem with Nigeria football administrators is that non of them has ever witnessed bullet /assignation as was the case in Columbia after the 1986 world cup. May be this 2010 world cup may settle some important issues in the administration of football in Nigeria.
Sani Lulu should remember that he is putting his life on the line.
If he foolishly retains Amodu against the popular wish over 140,000,000 Nigerians to impose on us Amodu his blood will be on his head.
Who knows how mush Amodu is tipping him.
Did he ever watch our prelims that there was no pattern out all. The guy lacks focus.
Please, somebody should tell Governor Amenchi to leave Amodu and NFF alone. We thank him for his contributions during the course of our qualifying matches, but at this stage, he should have his peace and concentrate on moving River State forward. If there is any money left from the donation received to prosecute our qualifying matches he should surrender it to NFF with specific instruction on how it should be used and not to use the hard earned money to hire a man that cannot qualify his own country for the World cup. Please let support made in Nigeria.Amodu no checking, Lulu thank you for sticking with your decision on Amodu.
Guys…the NFF is just fooling around with nigerians about getting a foreign technical adviser….These gang of organised criminals in that glass house…are not interested in the development of the game in nigeria…..if they were, they won’t be making so much noise about them getting a foreign technical adviser…they love the PE master amudu…
Please no matter what people talk about coaches do not forget that what matters are the players determination at any point and not coaches because their jobs starts and ends in psychology when it comes to top flight football.Remember this is not grass root football where a player is taught how to pass and trap the football. Amodu is as good as any other coach in the world, I must confess.
All you sentimental Amodu fans should hid 2 the call of wisdom. let us think rationally for once. we all no the circumstances that led to the failure of some of the coaches we’v had. we need to look @ the present team combined with Amodu and ask ourselves wat they can offer @ the WC-nothing. we are talking of WC folks not qualifies or nations cup. it is high time we integrate some of our young lad into the SE, especially in the attacking midfield position. Amodu does not seem to be able to do this bcos he does not understand this boys, he does not have a starting eleven. we need sombody who does+somebody that no what it takes at the World stage. every coach fails @ one pt in time, and i think Guus have had his, he will be happy 2 prove a point with Nigeria as a comeback. we also need somebody that knows the players like Siasia.
I think it is time in this country that we continue to appreciate what we have as a nation and individuals. What else could we wish for than a world cup ticket that Amodu has earn us? Amodu has again prove his worth to have again qualify us for the world cup just the way he did some years back and the job was given to a man from Osun state that performed really below my expectation.
Now that he has qualified us for another world, we should support we so we can build our own. Replacing Amodu at this time with any coach no matter the pedigree and still cannot qualify for world cup is not the best.
My great people let us support Amodu.
Amodu should take the Super Eagles to South Africa. Those who are asking for a replacement are thinking with their mouths, certainly not with their heads. NO FOREIGN COACH CAN WIN THE WORLD CUP WITH THE CURRENT POOL OF TALENT AVAILABLE FOR THE SUPER EAGLES, PERIOD. Remember Vogts similarly came in to take Nigeria to Ghana 2008 and it was our worst nations cup outing in more than 20 years. Last time Amodu qualified the Super Eagles for the world cup (2002) he was replaced and that too was our worst world cup outing. Amodu has played 12 competitive games, won 9 and drawn 3 (lost none). Let him complete the job. The foreign coaches being mentioned have no experience working in Africa and the time is too short for someone to come to learn. More than ever, African teams will need coaches with a good knowledge of the continent to have the “home advantage” we should have in South Africa.
BY THE WAY, WHEN WILL WE HAVE A PRESIDENTIAL TASK FORCE TO DELIVER REGULAR POWER SUPPLY TO NIGERIANS?
WHITEOUT BEING TOLD, WE ALL NIGERIAN KNOW THAT WE NEED A COACH NOT AN ESCORT OR SECURITY LIKE AMODU AND CO.
If you hire a foreign coach, will you hire foreign players as well?
Why cant you guys for once appreciate someone effort. You keep clamouring for the neck of Amodu do you have the calibre of player to play the kind of football you want. Why keep deceiving yourself. If Hiddinck was that good why did he fail to qualify with Slovenia and the calibre of big players he has. Now you want them to use our money to start feeding one foreigner again and when his done he leave you with your problem. If he his not good enough let him go and have the experience afterall he qualified you.
Amodu has done it again. we should allow him to go to south africa. Give Amodu free hand to choose his team. he will succeed . Guus could not qualify his team. So Amodu is better than him. The best coaches are south Africa bound, including Amodu. That we qualified has nothing to do with PTF, ok.
The case of sack of Amudu should not come up at all, this is somebody who
has been mandated to qualify the eagle for both the nations cup and world cup and
he achieve that without even loosing any match and yet some greedy Nigerians are calling
for his removal for Oyibo man.they quickly forgot that those Oyibo coaches in the past
hired ,apart from Westerhof failed wolfly.if at all any Oyibo coach should be hired,it should be no other person than Westerhof.at this stage i expected that everybody should be praising Amudu for the job well done.i congratulate Amudu if atall nobody does that.
The PTF is free to dowhat they want. if they bring in a new coach Eagles will not do well. why did the Russian coach not qualify them for the world cup even with play off? This is the second time Amodu is qualifiying the eagles for the world cup and we find excuse to sack him. NFF will one day beg him again the forth time. Since we may not do well at all let us stick with Amodu
You see why we need to get a world class coach , to work with AMODU just like WESTERHOF worked with CHRISTIAN CHUKWU!
Chukwu knew the players, Westerhof had the tactics.A foreign coach will need a Nigerian coach to help him know the players faster.I recommend a world class coach like Guus Hiddink. He was desperate to go to the world cup with Russia, but they have failed to qualify. We all know his pedigree and the element of luck that follows him around. He’s earning about N400,000 naira as Russia’s coach. We can double that for him and give him a 6 year contract! He has won club and country cups, coached PSV, REAL MADRID,FERNABECHE,VALENCIA,REAL BETIS,CHELSEA, HOLLAND, SOUTH KOREA, AUSTRALIA, and RUSSIA. Won FA cup in 4 countries, Champions league , reached the world cup semi finals twice, and Euro 2008 nations cup semi finals. He’s a no nonsense diciplinarian like former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard. He balances that with his loving fatherly disposition. He is from Holland like Westerhof and is rated 4th best in the world.
Let’s start thinking of the way forward please. we have a very short time. GUUS HIDDINK or FRANK RIJKAARD, or BRUNO METSU? Someone to work with Amodu.Hiddink’s contract with Russia is still active but he has a termination clause which he can activate. He can come in temporary to bail us like he did for Chelsea. Give him a short term world cup contract of 7 months, which should be renewable. Or give him a long term contract of 6 YEARS. Rijkaard is on a two year contract with Glatasaray, Turkish league champions. He also has a termination clause in his contract. He wishes to have another world cup experience and Nigeria would be a viable option to boost his CV. Bruno Metsu won took Senegal to Korea/Japan quarter finals and then took UAE team to a record Asian nations cup win. He later took two Asian clubs to win their leagus and then took Quatar to Asian cup finals. Quatar has failed to qualify for the world cup, meanig Metsu will be free and idle. He earns about N300,000 naira minus bonuses.
we need to get one of them. I have thier contacts. If you want me to break down thier CVs, I can. Guus Hiddink has reached the world cup semi finals twice with 2 different countries, a EURO nations cup semi final, and has won the EURO Champions league plus 4 league titles in 4 countries. earns about N400,000.
Frank Rijkaard just left Barcelona to Galatasaray. We already know his pedigree and his ability to discipline ’stars’.
Bruno Metsu is known for his aggresive application of counter attacking football. He went to Asia for money and has shown that if he has the players,he can deliver.
Success in football is a combination of good players and good coaching. Nigeria has the players, we need the coach. i don’t care about foreigners, but we need results now.
I recomment NFF to send about 5 Nigerian coaches to Europe for attachment in good clubs to help then learn the new tactics in mordern football. Two years with Arsenal or Man U teams would give them the experience they need.
GUUS HIDDINK is from HOLLAND
FRANK RIJKAARD is also from HOLLAND
BRUNO METSU is from FRANCE
These are world class coaches, not retired coaches.
Hiddink is rated 4th in the world.
Rijkaard is rated 5th in the world
Metsu is rated 19th in the world
other options include:
HENRYK KASPERCZAK : is currently not coaching any team. He is from Poland. He took CIV to 3rd place in Tunisia 94. Took Tunisia to 2nd place in South Africa 96, and later to Atlanta 96 and France 98.Coached Morrocco from 1999-2000.Coached Mali from from 2001 to 2002 where they finished 4th in 2002 nations cup which they hosted. He later coached Senegal from 2006 to 2008 before returning to his country to coach a club. He isn’t world class to me.
GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI : is from Italy. He has coached Bayern Munich,Fiorentina, Benefica, Stuttgart, AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, ITALY national team, and recently Ireland national team where he failed to qualify them for the world cup due to Thiery Henry’s handball assisted goal.France won the play-off yesterday by that lone goal. He’s world class but we have better options in HIDDINK and RIJKAARD.
DAVID MOYES : is from Scotland. He’s 46yrs old and is currently coaching Everton. He has won the ENGLISH PREMIERSHIP LEAGUE MANAGER OF THE YEAR AWARD 3 times in 2003,2005 and 2009! His problem is that he has only coached two teams in his life and has never coached a country team. Why I’m reluctant about him is because if we sign him, he will build his team around Yobo, Yakubu and Anichebe because they play regularly for him;and if you ask me,Chinedu Ogbuike is better than the slow and fat Yakubu.
GERRARD HOULLIER : is from France. He has coached RC Lens,Paris St-Germain, Liverpool, Olympique Lyon, and the France national team. He helped to build the Liverpool dynasty from 1998 to 2004 where he won the premiership title, FA Cup, Uefa cup, Community shield, and the UEFA Super Cup all in the same year.He also took the FRANCE Under 19 team to win the EURO U-19 Championship in 1996. He’s world class but HIDDINK AND RIJKAARD are better.
Other options are Fabio Capello and Carlo Ancellotti, but they are not available as thier contracts tie them down with thier teams for now.
SO YOU SEE, we are still left with
GUUS HIDDINK,
FRANK RIJKAARD or
BRUNO METSU
I recommend HIDDINK …
or an alternative in the following order :
RIJKAARD
METSU
MOYES
HOULLIER
TRAPATTONI
LET’S CHOOSE SOMEONE TO WORK WITH AMODU
DONT’ SACK AMODU!!!
Only a world class coach will know that the player that should wear the number 10 shirt is OSAZE and not MIKEL !
How many Nigerian players would have passed the ball back to Martin’s to score our first goal. Most would have choosen to shoot for goal themselves. Osaze is not selfish. He can run, dribble, shot and score with both legs and and with his head.He knows how to avoid injuries.
GUUS HIDDINK and FRANK RIJKAARD are both from Holland. They both know how to fully utilize players like Osaze, Chinedu Ogbuike, Uche, and Nsofor.
If we don’t move for one of them before the world cup draws, other countries would contract them.

Maybe one day we will invite Oyibo man to come and rule this country b,cos we cannot rule.Whether you like it or not Amodu is a sound coach he can lead the eagle to the world cup successfuly.he can begin to build a world class team after the nations cup,let leave him alone to concentrate on his job for he know what to do best to win the world cup for Nigeria.all those so call Oyibo coaches brought to Nigeria in the time past how many of them has done us proud apart from Westerhof.Since he was given the contract he played many matches both home and away without loosing any and finally qualified Nigeria to participate and yet some of you greedy people want him sack or play a second fiddle to Oyibo if you are in his shoes will you like it let us be sincere to ourselves.to hell with Oyibo coach. lelomejor@gmail.com,07030471714
inuoma, its more than funny…. Amaechi is confused, after boycotting the last match of the eagles hoping that they will fail so he will have an excuse as PTF chairman, now he is coming to talk of getting a foreign TA. Arrant nonsense……
HIddink is not as good as people might think, and I dont see his coming to Nigeria feasible anyway, its all paper talk,
AMODU and his crew should be left alone until after the WORLD CUP. Anything short of that will be a disaster as NEMESIS will catch up with Nigerian football again.
THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH
I think, those of u calling 4 amodu to stay are unreasonable. the man has done a good job and should be honored with double national award, then let him retire, looking at him from all perspective, he has noting to offer anymore other than draw every match in Angola and South Africa, then come back and say, he has not lost any match.
As far as i am concerned, Amodu is a draw master. Let him go, Nigerians should learn to go when the ovation is lound.I support that we bring in a good foriegn coach, who will earn respect from the boys and who has a sound technical know how, and if there is any one who need to learn from these foriegn coaches, it is like of Sia1, (the best Coach in Nigeria) John Ibuh, Sunday Oliseh, Uche Okechukwu, Finidi George, Ben Iroha, Uche Okafor, Garba Lawal, Emmanuel Amunike, Thompson Oliha, Stephen Keshi, etc, these are the Brighter Future of Nigerian football. Amodu times is gone, how old is he for crying out lound and we want him to learn from who. he deserved respect and the best respect he can get is to say, fellow Nigerians, thank you for giving me another chance to qualify Nigeria to South Africa, i have done my best, please let some one esle continue the good work i have just done. we will all honor him, if he want worship, we will do that. But to given another chance of trying and error God Forbid. God bless Nigeria.
My God! So it is ‘the world class coaches’ like Guus Hiddink and Giovanni Trapattoni who couldn’t qualify their respective countries (Russia, Ireland) to the WC that are now ‘good’ for Nigeria. Somebody please explain this to me because it does not make any sense whatsoever to me.
anybody callin for a foreign coach is mad period. Change amodu, but look for an indigineous coach, simple. Why do we always beleive we are inferio to oyibo?
At least it’s now obvious that we are the cause of our problems. At times what most of us do is to watch Nigeria films. We have refused to upgrade our knowledge and reasoning. We don’t even listen to news. The only program we watch is “WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE”, period! because it’s all about money.
Some of us don’t even read the comments written by other people before we write our own.
The issue right now is not about AMODU staying because we have already concluded it would be unfair to fire him now. The issue is can he deliver a good outing without proffessional assistance? Amodu couldn’t even win the only strong team in the group: Tunisia! Is it CIV, GHANA, EGYPT, CAMEROUN, ANGOLA, or EVEN SOUTH AFRICA that he will win?
Why not organize friendlies with this African teams to evaluate AMODU’S PEDIGREE.
Not to talk of teams like USA, SPAIN,BRAZIL,ENGLAND,GERMANY, and HOLLAND!
If we want to just participate in the nations cup and world cup without making any impact, then allow AMODU where he is. But if we want to capitalize on the fact that the world cup is hosted on African soil next year, the get a world class coach with experience.
If we don’t want HIDDINK, there are othe coaches available, like RIJKAARD.
No Nigerian coach right now is world class! Let’s be honest at least.
The best amongst them is SIASIA, and he has shown with his last tournament that he still needs upgrading.
WHY NOT SEND SIASIA, IKHANA, OBUH, IROHA, OLISEH,AMOKACHI and KESHI to coaching academies in Europe or attach the to world class European teams for at least 2 years, and see if the won’t become world beaters?
The Nigerian players played what thier club coaches taught them. Our world cup qualification came from them not from AMODU. All AMODU did was select who to play.HE HAD NO TACTICAL INPUT IN ALL THIER MATCHES. We can’t go far in a tournament gambling and depending on individual skills and luck!
WE ARE NOT INFERIOR TO ONYIGBO, NEITHER ARE WE UNPATRIOTIC. Those calling for AMODU TO REMAIN AS HEAD COACH DON’T LOVE NIGERIA MORE THAN US CALLING FOR A WORLD CLASS COACH TO COME IN AND PARTNER WITH HIM.
Let’s stop deceiving ourselves.
HIDDINK DOESN’T HAVE THE QUALITY POOL OF PLAYERS AMODU HAS. Apart from Ashavin, there is no star player in Russia. Besides, Hiddink lost 4 key players to injuries before the last match! HIDDINK HAS TAKEN 3 DIFFERENT TEAMS TO THE WORLD CUP AND REACHED THE SEMI FINALS TWICE WITH HOLLAND AND LOW RATED KOREA!
HE TOOK RUSSIA TO THE SEMI FINALS OF EURO 2008 NATIONS CUP! HE HAS COACHED THE BEST CLUBS IN THE WORLD, FORM REAL MADRID TO CHELSEA, AND IS THE FIRST COACH TO WIN THE LEAGUE IN 4 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES: TURKEY,SPAIN,HOLLAND AND ENGLAND!
He is a disciplinarian, and listen’s to advice.
If you don’t still like him, the go for FRANK RIJKAARD or someone else like BRUNO METSU who led SENEGAL to beat FRANCE,DENMARK AND SWEDEN in KOREA/JAPAN WORLD CUP befroe the lost in extra time to TURKEY in the QUARTER FINALS.
RIJKAARD just left BARCELONA to GALATASARAY on a two years contract.
GET SOMEONE WORLD CLASS TO HEAD THE TECHNICAL CREW IF YOU WANT TO SEE GOOD FOOTBALL, BEAUTIFULL GOALS COMING FROM TACTICAL TEAM BUILD UP,COHESIVENESS, COUNTER ATTACKING GAMES, DISCIPLINED DEFENCE, CREATIVE MIDFIELD POSSESSION ETC.
LET’S stop all this sentiments.
A PLEA TO MR.AMODUNO DOUBT U R A GOOD COACH, SURE U’VE ALWAYS GIVEN ALL TO HELP UR COUNTRY NIGERIA QUALIFY; THANK YOU SO MUCH. PLEASE GOOD COACH AMODU U CAN SHOW MORE OF UR IMMENSE PATRIOTISM NOW BY BOWING OUT SINCE THE UPCOMING TASK LOOKS BIGGER THAN U CAN HANDLE;DON’T LET SELFISH PRIDE MAKE U SELL YOUR CONSCIENCE AND SENSE OF PATRIOTISM:::
GOD HAS DONE IT FOR U, DO IT FOR 9JA THEN GOD WILL LIFT U HIGHER.

The problem is not so much with the coach or players but the system… all this talk of foreign coach is a sham! The administration has to change else it is like pouring a new wine into an old wineskin…
amodu to me is not the kind of coach nigeria needs rite now.we qulified for the first ever world cup in our own african soil by the grace of God.TO BE FOR 1 IS TO BE 4 HARM.LET HIDDINK DO THIS JOB FOR US.
THANK YOU.
FOR ALL OF YOU WHO SUPPORTS THE IN-COMING OF GUUS HIDDINK, I SAY MAY GOD BLESS YOU. AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SAID AMODU SHOULD CONTINUE, MAY I ASK YOU A QUESTION, DO YOU THINK THE MIRACLES THAT JUST QUALIFIED US FOR THE WORLD CUP CAN STILL WIN A MATCH FOR US AT THE WORLD CUP OR EVEN TAKE US TO THE ROUND OF 16? NEVER! COS THERE IS NO MOZAMBIQUE TO BEAT TUNISIA IN ORDER FOR US TO QUALIFY. COMMON GUYS, LET US NOT FORGET SO SOON, IN 2002 IT HAPPENED LIKE THIS AND WE WENT THERE JUST TO DISGRACE OURSELVES. LET US LEARN HOW TO LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES AND BRING SOMEBODY WHO IS COMPETENT TO DO US PROUD AND STOP THE GOD-FATHERISM IN THIS COUNTRY. AMODU IS NOT CAPABLE AND THAT IS JUST THE TRUTH.
Enough of this rubish please. What is good for the jews, is also good for the gentiles.
Mazi George Bede Tobi.
i think amodu should have somebody that know what he is doing . ithink the PTF SHOULD ACT FAST BY EMPLOYING THE GREAT HIDDINK IF THEY CAN AND DO IT FAST BECAUSE THE NATION CUP IS IN JANUARY 2010 BUT AMODU SHOULD REMAIN AS HIS ASSISTANT
as a patriotic nigerian, i wholeheartedly support the call for a foreign coach, preferably Hiddink. This not the time for sentiments, Amodu has tried, but he is not capable of taing our football to the next level, he should be part of the tecnical crew, but not the head. We need to do well at the W.C and Hiddink feets the bill. I urge the PTF to go for him fast. I want to believe that he will relish the challenge of working for Nigeria. After the W.C we can start the process of rebuilding, starting with the development of the school sports system, a competitive league and ensuring that only genuine players play in age grade competitions.
We should’nt blame Amodu,he can parform better without the intervention of NFF,since we all now know that NFF will not allow Amodu to do without their intervention because they are the one of put him there. Is better for us to hire a world class coach that would not allow any selfish set of people to spoil is record.

Nigeria, nigeria let try and learn from our mistakes coach Amodu cannot think or read football ,if he can read fooball kanu cannot be part of team, getting a foreign coach is the problem, will those big ogas, allow him do his job. I don`t know if the president of nigeria is now adding football to his 7point agenda to make it 8point agenda.
For the sake of conscience let leave amodu to take us to South Africa 2010……He labored to qualify and now is the time for him to enjoy the fruit there in
Nigerian senior team indeed need sound technical coach. The coach can be a black man and not necessarily be a white man. Somebody who has indent knowledge about football. It is very unfortunate that the present head coach of the senior team can not read a match technically and that is why he can not discover any new players that can inject life football speed needed in the senior team and if Nigeria want to make any impact in the world cup, now is the time to take the decision.
I hate to hear or read the insinuation that Amodu is the best local coach in the country, that is very far from the truth. portraying Amodu as the best local coach in Nigeria now is like saying Arigo Sacchi is the best local coach in Italy as at today. Amodu last achievement on the local scene was the BCC/Elkanemi era of over a decade ago. Amodu, thereafter, has failed both in South Africa and with Sharks of Portharcourt. Amodu is not fit to lead the eagles to Angola and South Africa next year he has failed to build a team for close to two years now. Westerhof spent less than 2 years to build a formidable eagles between September 1989 and Jan 1992 when we went to Senegal. Amodu incompetence is so glaring that everybody on the bench(Kanu and other players inclusive) become coach when we play because the coach is always bereft of ideas, people should go and watch our matches against Tunisia and Mozambique in Abuja and see how many instructors/coaches on duty on that day. Amodu should be sacked now without hesitation. PERIOD
The way we play for the upcoming nations cup in Angola will determins how will far we can play at the mundia. My suggestion now is if we can be able to get a choach who is not ready to look for sentiment and eye service we have to go for that, personally i don’t fancy Amodu techenical input despite that he have qualified them for the tournenment i prefers Keshi and Samson to tinker them for the compitition .And again we have to scout another players who is ready to play their life too with Captain Papilo leading them to his final world world .
I’m in total support of the idea of hiring a very good and reputable coach for Nigeria. Fine Amodu qualified us for the world cup…but how? We all know how we played during the qualifiers..there is nothing to cheer in it. It all due to grace that we qualified. Taking Amodu to the world cup would be a disaster because we’ll end up embarrassing ourselves before the world. I suggest we start preparing as early as possible. GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
As far as am concern i don’t believe in any foreign man so am not in support, if you say we must heir a new coach then we should heir players too cos our players are not good, we should not forget that and face only coach, pls let us leave Amodu alone to continue his job the problem is not about coach but the big ogas(God’s father) so i believe if Amodu is given the needed free hand he is going to surprise Nigerian. Also take for instance the amount that ‘ll be paid to the foreign coach half of it ‘ll not be paid to Amodu, we should also learn our lessons from the last edition that we went with a foreign coach what happened to us so for God’s sake no body should worry Amodu he has done what we think he cannot so let him enjoy the fruit of his labor.
We need a coach that would be highly tectnical n instill discpline in our boys. This why we truly need a tecnical adviser. Actually, we should leave Oliseh out of this. Let him try under 17 or 20. Siasia is proven a point than him. We need a technical adviser assited by Amodu n Siasia. Thats is the bet towards a deserving performance in Wcup 2010.
Amodu if you like go do juju or bribe the whole NFF or even promise the Boys some kick backs…….we know that the God that took us to world cup 2010 will not allow you to cause confusion………..This is the only joy we have now and you cannot stop it. Even the players wants you out so please kindly respect yourself and leave the team. Its not your birth right.
amodu is politician, he dont no any thing about football, him been the nigeria coach is polities, is a pdp
Join the debate on Africa’s Top Ten matches at the World Cup ever. http://www.africaplays.com/forum/topic109.html
Those calling for foreign coach, should also remember that those coaches could not qaulify a team to the World Cup. If they are very good or World calss coaches as some will say, they couldnt have been vacant by now. They should have qualified their nations for the world cup. Amodu for over 20 years of his coaching history hardly lose matches, right from BCC to Elkanemi to Confederation Cup, to South Africa, to Mali 2002 and now. This cant be luck my dear friends. You want to bring a foreign coach whom we know very well will not win for us. Bora did not do it, Berti Votgt could not. Is it now an Oyibo coach will perform?. In all the world cup qualifiers in Africa it is only Amodu that played without a lost. It is only him that has qualified a nation for two World cup. He has the best record for over 20years, winning several FA cups, Local cups and continental trophies. Having 29 matches with a national team without a lose at full time. That is no coach in this world that has perform edbetter. Football is all about winning, if you like play a beatiful game like the angels and lose, it will never go on record. Please gentle men, leave this man to go and win again for us. Remember he defeated France, drew with N. Ireland those you said have world class coaches in their own backyard. Think wise.
Many wanted Coach Amodu to loss most of the friendly matches played especially the one against France but, they were shocked. Kudos to Amodu & God on his side. We should not forget in a hurry that this is the 2nd time Coach Amodu had qualified for the World Cup, while the so called BIG NAME coaches failed. If these said coaches are good enough, why didn’t they qualify for the WORLD CUP. I’m not surprised for Gov. Amachi, who wanted to see that the task given to him was successful. But he fails to realise that Amodu has the same task to succeed. WE SHOULD ALL GIVE IT TO AMODU, I can imagine what he went thru. Don’t let us forget what BORA (one time so called Big Coach) did when he took us to the World Cup, he achieved nothing. LET’S GIVE AMODU THE CHANCE OF A LIFE TIME PLEASE. HE WILL PERFORM.

i am surprised that people, are insisting that Amodu qualified Nigeria for the world cup.this is not a statement of fact.i watched all the qualifying series, there was no tactical display.no team cohesion,no mid-field.our strikers were not mobile.take such a team to the world cup, only time will justify Amodu or those clamoring for ,his sack
Hello Gov Rotimi Amaechi, God bless you and your entire house, and rest of PTF God will be with you all in Jesus name. Please i believe the rumour of Foreign coaches is not fake, if it is not then let get it. I think Mr Adenuga i mean GLO multi million man talk about Ruud Gullit before the world qualifies last time but to mean i don,t like the ideal, i will prefare Guus Hiddink cause will all see what he did when he was Chelsea coaches. Please to my own advise don’t sack Amodu retain him to work with Hiddink.
Pls let us Leave Amodu alone. Its high time we start grooming what is our own,and be proud of our local content. The years of Whites superiority has gone. Even internatioally, on a count of 1-10 bets players, African players will contest atleast 5 of that. And thats just one continent.
lest allow amodu. Let the NFF allow him a free hand. Sure He can achieve it.
If Guus Hiddink is looking for a job in Nigeria, he should wait till after world cup.Phillipe Trousier qualified us for France 1998,we dished him and went with Bora Militunovic and he messed us up. Amodu give us 2002, we dished him and went with Onigbinde. He messed us up. Amodu also give us South Africa 2010 with weak and sacrab players and we want to do thesame mistake thrice. It wont happen.Anybody that is lobbying to eat the fruit of another man’s labour must fail. Nobody will do anything different in this team. Why cant Hiddink qualify Russia that have Andrei Arshavin, Zrekov, Pavelechenko etc. Let anybody who is sick go and take his or her medicine. Leave Amodu to concentrate.
God should just help us because, i believe in this boys but nothing is new in the team, we dont improve on our mistakes by now i expect a nigerian team with up coming talents and older ones that way we can achieve. but now! I wonder.
I see that if taking foreign coach is our problem let us go on to do so, but if we see that the problem is from taking the foreign coach let not.
but b/4 then lets look b/w ourself first and do a little examination b4 we do so
on my own view i suggest that we should pick a coach that will lift us not the one that will come & squander our money & keep us in the same place.
thanks
I felt like crying when Nigerian “Super” Eagles lifted the Bronze title. Why are we the “Giant” of Africa with over 150million people and with abundant talents that are abound in 1st class foreign Teams pressurizing to win ACN. How can a Professor be taught by a WASC holder. Let us know the qualifications of Amodu. Hiddink is a trusted name if and only if he is ready to reside in Nigeria and do the proper job. Your Excellency, Amechi; you have our collective mandate to recruit a world class coach for a world class team. It is an insult to be promised a quarter final attempt in the World cup by Amodu. Enough is enough and no sentiments!!!
pPease nigerians, we should not decieve our self, Amodu does not know much about football talkmore of coaching a difcult team like super eagel. i think the time is too short but the man Guu Hidink is a kind of Coach that can perform wonders in short period of time he is an emergency coach in the world. bring hiddink and let some one like great Samsom Siasia be an assitant , i tell you we will perform wonder s with this two people. but Shuaibu Amodu is not a world cup materials. tanx.

hindink is a good coach i believe he can do it,but let gives this job to siasia he too will try is,is one of the best coach we have in this country.
Hiddink is a good coach but Nigerians [NFF] believe in big boys who does not known what to do with the ball in the field, For Hiddink to go through, he will forget about the big boys and build another term that can make Nigerian proud, Siasia can assist him.
