Eagles Durban Camp Now Opens May 30. Lagerback Tasks NFF On Training Games In South Africa
Super Eagles will return to Durban South Africa, on May 30, 2010 where they will open their camp in preparation for the 2010 World Cup finals.
The national team had earlier quartered in the former Apartheid enclave city between December 31, 2009 and January 8, 2010 during the build-up to the Angola 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
Newly contracted head coach of the team, Lars Lagerback submitted his camping programme to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, declaring that May 30, is an ideal date for the players to start strolling into camp for the World Cup build-up.
It was understood that Lagerback’s proposal was only two weeks later than the May 15 date earlier proposed by demoted Super Eagles coach, Shuaibu Amodu.
Lagerback, Complete Sports can report equally tasked the NFF to arrange for about three local warm up games with some South African Premier Soccer League, PSL, clubs in June till the start of the FIFA World Cup finals.
It would be recalled that during preparations for the Nations Cup finals, the Super Eagles camped at the Riverside Hotel in the Kwazulu-Natal Kingdom of Durban.
