Utaka Thanks Danish Club For Eagles Release

OB Odense of Denmark striker, Peter Utaka is full of thanks to his club management for allowing him to travel down to Nigeria and feature in Wednesday friendly game between Nigeria and Congo.
The Nigeria Football Federation opted to invite the younger brother of Portsmouth forward, John Utaka (Peter) as one of the few foreign based players that will be mixed with largely players that are plying their trades in the domestic league to confront the Central African country’s national team after the much publicised Paraguay warm-up match scheduled for London failed to materialise. He was even a late call-up for the match aimed at searching for more options for 2010 World Cup Eagles squad.

However, the player who is currently the leading goal scorer in Danish league remains unfazed about the last minute invitation declaring that it is indeed a dream come true.
“It is a dream come true and I am relieved that my club did not put themselves in the way of my departure inspite of the late call-up.
“My manager, Lars Olsen was also really glad on my behalf because he knows it means a lot to me and my career. It is fantastic, and I am pleased with the way OB has handled it. I am really grateful to them,” he said in an interview monitored by Complete Sports as he was about to depart Denmark for Nigeria.

Complete Sports can confirm that the former Belgium based player is already in town exuding confidence to use the Congo match to make a clear statement of his readiness to challenge for ‘elusive’ Super Eagles shirt as the race for 2010 World Cup hots up.
He will join the likes of Obinna Nsofor, Sanni Kaita and Uwa Echiejile to beef up the team that will confront Congo inside the Abuja National Stadium on March 3 under the watchful eyes of new Eagles handler, Lars Lagerback.
