Super Eagles striker,Osaze Odemwingie believes Lars Lagerback failed to inspire the team because of his little knowledge of the players he brought to the World Cup.
An embittered Osaze told Complete Sports after the match that this lack of proper understanding of the players character and strenghts accounted for the many poor decisions the coach made in team selection.
‘As a coach I respect his training methods. It is far better than what we used to have in the past but his (Lagerback’s) greatest undoing is his lack of understanding and knowledge of the players he brought here to the world cup.For example see the way he used Sani Kaita in our first game against Argentina’,said Osaze.
The Russia-based player said he and Obafemi Martins have been the hardest hit by Lagerback’s error of judgement and I had to confront him after he substituted me against Greece. If he had understood my temperament,he would hacve known how best to use me’,he said.
Lars lagarback didn’t impress Nigerians.he lacked d technical known how.he made wrong selections in his starting x1 in d matches against Greece nd south korea.imagine him puting sani kaita in d match against greece.shame 2 us.poor planing.
it’s quite unfortunate that the “chicken eagles” who call themselves “super eagles” descended so low to commit errors and even allow low teams as Greece and Korea Republic to disgrace us in the SA 2010. The greatest error of it all is Aiyegbeni’s inclusion in the squad and he being given a prominent role to play at the starting line up to the end of the games. The team need a total overhauling and “re-branding”. 10xs.
Osaze, you will do yourself a lot of good by keeping your mouth shut. What was your input in the Argentina match and even Greece, you were never in the game. Is it the coach that will teach Yakubu how to push in the ball to an empty net. The truth is that your performance has drop considerably, why don’t you pick up the pieces of your life and proof that you can do it again. You were never in this world cup. Period.
i am not surprised we performed woefully.it is deserved and i lay all the blame at the doorstep of the NFA.can someone tell me that Amodu Shuaibu couldnt have achieved what laggerback has [achieved] for us.it is really heart wrecking to watch these guys play.it is obvious that this coach does not know these players well and that is why he has cfailed.with the little time left before the world cup,it would have been better to aloow Amodu take these guys to the world cup because he has been with these guys longer and know them better.it is a shame.shame to NFA.UNPATRIOTIC IDIOTS.you are all interested in the kick-backs you will get from getting a foreign coach and we the soccer loving nigerians has paid dearly for it

Osaze! Osaze!! Osaze!!! How many times did I call your name? Never, ever, ever, even not ever, bring your temperament into issues with your coach, otherwise, you’re on your way down the ladder of failure. One thing is very clear now. This team does not have a soul. It is easily shaken. There’s nothing Largerback could have done for the players bcos they themselves are at their lowest in terms of self-confidence.
The more painful part of all this is that the same people who destroy our football are still there looking for more money to steal. God help Nigeria. I wish there is a way these guys are kicked out with their devilish management philosophy. Without knowing it, our players have become politicians like these evil sports administrators who see and measure everything with MONEY. How will they succeed with money as the only reason they’re there? God bless Nigeria.
I would like Osaze to shot up his mouth .He always makes derogatory statement about his coach. He said worse things about Shuaibu Amodu.
I told us before in this forum before the commencement of this tournament that I would return to comment when the Eagles are sent home on a disgraceful show.I am stilll of the opinion that we made a seriuo mistake of sending Amodu away. There is this principle of life that guides us carefully that we failed to think about ,that is,”it is not he that willeth or runneth it is the lord that shows mercy and except the Lord builds the house the builders build in vain.
Amodu is a man of luck.He carries great level of God’s presence which was lacking in Eagles in SA and that made us to stop where we stooped in the tournament. To be frank Amodu’s selection would any time any day beat the Korean side and get qualified for the next round.
I enjoin Nigerians to encourage these boys and also go back and beg Amodu for the wrongs against him.
I know our press would be calling for the head of Largerback now. The press and the Football analysts we have are killing our footnball because they dont allow our administrators to do their work.Too much of interference.
I wish Ghana best of luck.
Super chicken! U bring a big shame on us even with the money they promise to pay you, you’re playing a big boy 4nothing game. Shame on you.
Nigerian’s SE is the worst African flop in the tournament. The only thing i can say is that the 900million naira the FG released to them should be returned. In fact, all the players that participated should be fined for disgracing Nigeria
Super chicken please buy bread for ur while coming. We support 1 Goal but now 1 point. This 1, 1 thing is affecting us o. 1 point agenda, 1 goal, 1 ….. God help us.
I would like to thank Amodu, Amokachi, Amao, 4 qualifying us 4 the WC. It is only a shame that U were robbed of continuing your good work in getting the needed results for a good outing in a major event, by been able to get the best out of our talented players.
Because the problem isn’t the players, or the local coaches but the mal-administration, disorganisation and corruption of the current NFF coupled the colonial mentality of Nigerians who don’t appreciate the Talent we have in Nigeria in players & coaches like Amodu. & it is only when we give them the space, time & support they need will progress be made & instant results achieved .
But will we ever learn that?
i ve nothing to say. but Enyeama good luck
Please Nigeria should not apportion any blame on the coach becouse the man Largerback as try is best becouse if the man have enough time he would have trasform our super eagle to a greater height, Pls i want our adminstration called NFF to extend is contract for another 2years. Also am using this opportunity to advace ageing player to resign from our national team before people started disgraced them.[Like KANU, UTAKA,AIYEGBENI, YOBO, and many others. Long live Nigeria.
Shut up your mouth Osaze, you were given a chance against Argentina and Greece, you didn’t make any impact, yet you are still complaining. You earlier on, made such stupid comments about Amodu, then you were praising Lagerback. Now, you have turned your back on Lagerback and have started vomiting nonsense from your mouth. Goat!!!
Shut up ozaze! I thought ur thinking would be diff 4rm the other chicken, you dare talk 2 lagerback.u must b a fool,NFF (NO football future) pls start planning
let the president & pTF dissoveld the nff and call the keeper.. kalu uche,.. obasi,.. and haruna then sacked others and give siasia the job….notting else we can do to free from this kind of shame……
As far as someone like me is concerned, osaze is just an over blown and over celebrated average player that nigerian press has given a voice to say anything about anyone regardless of their position.at the appointment of the coach he was calling him the special one and went outright to blame amodu.the world cup must have opened the eyes of the press to the fact that osaze is not a tournament player and does not have what it takes to carry the team when there is need for him to do so.it is easy to blame someone on the bench for your loss but you must have been seen to have put in your best and an outstanding performance.you cant compare amodu with maradona in terms of their knowledge of the game yet messi never made a negative statement about him and that is the best player in the world!
I think the root cause of the problem with the Nigerian team is the administration(NFF). Bringing in Largarback within such a short period of time to the WC bcos of the filthy gain they’ll get from hiring a foreign coach. Largarback surely had to deliver with very little knowledge of his players, thereby bringing in very poor selection of players. Amodu’s selection any day any time would defeat the Greek and the South Korean teams. Coupled with that is the lack of confidence the players have. Generally, luck wasn’t just on our side. Imagine, Aiyegbeni kicking the ball off after facing an empty net! How could that be explained? I think he (Aiyegbeni) didn’t deserve to be @ the world cup at all. He is the WORST striker in the competition.
As regard Osaze, he wasn’t used the way he should, so that likely affected his performance. The same applied to Martins. I just wish them, especially Enyeama good luck even though Nigeria is out of the competition. Kudos to the corrupt NFF. GOD PUNISH THEM ALL!
we need not to crucify the team, if a country like england, france etc that have a better leauge and preparation are not doing well. why are we been bitter over super eagles performance in south africa. the team can not do more than what they did. we went to the tounament with low preparation and bounch of average players.what we got is what we deserved.knowledge is easy to gain but wisdom is much harder. we went with knowledge not with wisdom. no body should heep blame on any player or coach let go back to drawing board.
give the coach time to build a formidable team for the next nations cup and it has to start now.
this in not Kenya, mazambique, tunisia or zambia. this are world cup bound team and are far prepared compared to what we have, our problem started from the day Amodu was appointed so just shup up and follow instruction. big mouth.
this coach as done a lot in the little time giving.
Why blame the player or Coach for NFF error do you people think winning match is magic or good preparering. how long does this man took charge that you want him to form a good team and win the world cup.
this is a man that listed 40 players but with time he had to trim the list to 30players due to time factor even without seeing the players.
Amodu had all the time to build a first eleven team but for 2yrs he was experimenting, i remembered when we draw Tunisia in ABUJA 2-2 he said we where still in learning process.
Pls ask him after how many games and after how many months of being with the team.
Now you want to put blame on someone who got to meet the players in less than 2wks to a major tournament to perform magic?.
This coach as done a lot in the little time giving.

whatever Osaze has to say, there is a iota of truth to it. Obafemi is the strongest and fastest striker Nigeria has. I was wondering why he had to come in as a sub. I agree, Largerback does not understand the players but dat is no fault of his. NFF is killing Nigerian football. what do u expect of a coach who meets his players for the first time barely one month to a great tournament like the world cup. This whole thing is share madness……………………………
The problem of African football is absolutely ATTITUDE to doing what we do. Cos anything you do for the public should be done well because hundreds of thousands that can do better are watching you and the diff is opportunity.
The problem of Nigeria is absolutely corruption.
I saw a set hungry fools hassling for survival for daily bread, recommended by politicians, caused from home, deserved to be punished by God.
This overrated Osaze should just shut up. Agreed the coach lacked good knowledge of the players, was it the coach that will teach Osaze how to give a pass to a team mate who was in a scoring position only for him to exhibit such callous and selfish dispositions. He did the same thing during the Nations Cup in Angola when he chose to aim stupidly at goal instead of passing the ball to Martins. No wonder he was a bench warner at his Lokomotives Club and only managed about three goals all-season.
You have all spoken well. Corruption has come to stay in NFF, we have a bunch of complacent and jaded players, the coach had very little time to prepare because of Nigerian factor. Yes, the best thing is to go back to the drawing board, but we have no sense of history, hence we don’t learn from our past mistakes. I can assure everybody that we will still face this kind of scenario except if there is divine intervention. God help Nigeria!
I lik osaze bt he is being stupid n ungrateful by blamin d coach. How do they want a man 2 perform magic within d shortest time frame. Another result of fire brigad approach will see ivorycoast knock of d group stage even with d big boys in their team. So we should b appreciative of d coach who if give a long time will build us a formidable team. Pls wat we need is an entirely new nff. President Goodluck should act now. God bless Naija!
Look at this ‘idiot’ called Osaze. He’s one of the players that failed the coach. He thought he had an automatic shirt but was disappointed and now want to criticize the coach. He said Lagerback was the best before the tournament now he’s no longer good because he became a substitute. Nigeria would have qualified if he had made good use the time he had on the field but was rather selfish and arrogant. The coach is not the problem, but the have half-baked players.
Osaze why u fall my hand i be ur fan be4 o. well you guys destroyed my sweet sleep because of ur stupidity, allowing ur mates to teach how to play football. for u the coach i can not blame u now because of d short time preperation. as for me i will say let us desolve dos idiots and use Siasia and his boy as Ordinary Eagles not Super, let them prove to be super b4 we call them super Eagles.
We have to respect everybody including Kaita, Ayegbeni, Obafemi, Lars and others. Why not look at NFF who for no reason commence their preparation at the 11th hour. I am proud of the Super Eagles. I am happy with the results given the input on the preparation. But Everybody in the Glass should be asked to go. Period
Osaze, you are just selfish and greedy. One time you were promoting this very man ( Lars) over the pages of the newspapers about his technical skill and degrading Amoudu. The reason was because he invited you and subsequently you wanted him to give you preferential treatment as his supporter. You Osaze again, has been canvassing how good a white coach is over a black coach and how they handled their business. I did not blame you because you came to Nigerian and you have been given the exposure than brought you to this level and you have start to raise your shoulder and biting the same finger that fed you. It is the same black coach Christian Chukwu that brought you to limelight in Tunisia. Have you forgotten this? He has many players far better that you that he could have used. Please ask your Daddy, he is in a better position to tell you if a white person outclasses a black person intellectually. If he told you something different, then ask him again why do we leave midst of white people to come and dwell among the blacks. Osaze be careful with the media and what you say. You have millions of fans and do not let them turn against you and they are the people that promote you. Physical activity is observable, it is the fans that will tell you how good that you are. Watch yourself my brother.
@Jack, why are you talking like that? Is it because Martins was used as a substitute that make him to blown away the scoring chance he had? Guy, don’t talk like that because nobody has an automatic jersey in the team.
Yes,i quite agreed in totality with those who said the coach had little time to prepare for the world cup yet i can’t still understand why Largerback prefers fielding Yakubu at the expense of MARTINS despite his poor performance.
Having said this, i think the whole problem lies with the NFA who brought in Largerback barely a month to the world cup.For anybody to have expected miracle to happen, such a person must be building his castle in the air.
i’m happy almost everybody on this forum are on thesame page. yes we perfomed woefully at the worldcup and i’m glad we all agree that the problem is not from the coach rather from the football house. i have a dream that one day there will be revolution in Nigeria and it is going to be in our time. it is very important that this happens for the sake and future of our kids. we need a place we can call home because realistically we do not have any at the moment. Long Live Nigeria
Am surprised at all these comments…..Many people here were praising Lookman Haruna before the WC and some even dared t compare him with MIKEL and some were even cursing MIKEL …….I hope they have waken up from their slumber now……MIKEL was the missing link in SA and remain Nigeria best player currently.
Osaze should shut up and bury his head in shame. Is the coach going to assist you people to put the ball into the net like Ayegbemi. What was your contributions during the time you were fielded. I think some of you just want to sabotage the coach like Aiyegbeni from the same state as Amodu. If Amodu has taken you people to WC, your performance would have been woeful. Amodu is yesteryears coach, he could not have performed better. Everybody can see the technical input within three weeks with Lagerback. Give Lagerback more time, nigerians will smile again but not with selfish players like Osaze, Aiyegbeni, and Kaita. Osaze please keep your mouth shut for ever, because you are a selfish player. Imagine, leaving you on the bench for some matches now makes you to open your mouth wide. Are you better than IK Uche or Eneramo etc.
Nigeria, we hailed thee! Shame! Why is everybody blaming the coaches, Westerof, Bora, Onigbinde and now Lars. What was our preparation like before the world cup. We want to use Three weeks preparation and by playing Saudi, Colombia and Korea to win world cup. NO WAY! Until we learn how to prepare well for a competition, we will continue to fail. Talking about Amodu’s sack now is total nonsence because is one of our problems. Three years Amodu could not give us a team. Our players are just being overated, they are all below average and non is world cup material. Little did we know that Westerof spent 6 good year before he could give us a nations’ cup and world cup qualification. He combed all nigeria to recruit people like Amokachi, Finidi etc. What we need is good admninistration that believes in planning and preparation and a good local coach like Siasia. Thank God Olympics is at the corner, this could be our starting point now. Appoint Siasia today and give him 4 years contract to raise a team for tne next nations cup and Olympics and preparing the same team for the next world cup. Until then…..
Look, Siasia is d answer to these problem of ours. A man that knows his onions. Give him d job & see splendid result.
Thanks felow nigerians in this forum , the truth is clear let us not put the blames on the coach b/cs he did his work as a coach why did nff invite kanu, ayegbeni, utaka and kieta sani where we have young players that is developing look haruna played well in the first match but no good blocking midfielder etehu can not even give a fine pass or hold the ball as other blocking midfielders do eg yaya ture ,busquet, olise, malkelele etc also we need to give largarbear chance to build a new SE at least the discovery of haruna as a ES , can any coach tell yakubu to useless an open net? we need to train top 9 that is our problem and yobo should resin as a player 1) we lack defence 2) we lack football jugulers, 3) we lack defencive midfilder 4) we lack top 9, then we a coach and goalkeeper . it is beter that they did not qualify to next stage with this codition b/c the disgrace could have been more if weak contries beat us 7 .0 . long live Nigeria long live SE
Osaze is just being foolish. He is right the Lagerback didn’t know our players,he certainly didn’t have the time,so ican’t blame him.But no coach can teach players how to be committed to there national football team.If it will be possible,NFF should be disbanded, the team should be disbanded,Siasa should be employed as Lagerbacks assistant, they should be given a four year contract. If all this is done come 2014 Super eagles will rise to thje pinnacle.
Let forget about the past and see how we can move forward, what i know is if we know our problem we will move forward. The only problem we have is NFA.if we can find way to deal with them our football will change.
Some myopic fans still think the coach is not to blame for our woes, whereas, if the team had succeeded, the coach would have been hailed as the best in the world.
If it was a Nigerian that performed like this, what would have been their reactions? This country of ours always amazes me with the types of people who inhabit it. Amodu is better than the mercenary, nothing changes that.He did better, won games and qualified Nigeria for this very WC in which they messed up.Our coaches have the ability, knowledge, vision to do better than this liar (Lagerback) why? because he (Lagerback) promised everything, including a semi finals spot because he desperately wanted the position and the money as well as enriching his very poor CV.How would right thinking people not ask him for his report card now? Right thinking Nigerians must bring Lagerback to answer for his handling of the team in the WC,not the foolish assumptions that the team played well and the time was too short, mind you, Lagerback knew the time was short but being the greedy EUROPEAN he is lied to get the job,now is the time to take account. We must petition the F.G to get to the root of how a Nigerian was cheated of a golden opportunity to upgrade his CV and the chance given to a foreigner who could,nt qualify his own country for the same WC.These are painful days indeed. How could we,in this day and age, not know that the world does not care about us and that if we don,t care for ourselves, we,re finished.
The Nigerian press have as much blame in this fiasco as the NFF and some myopic fans that threatened and called for the sack of the patriot(Amodu). We have just paid and will suffer more till we learn to appreciate our own. It,s our responsibility to give our own all the training they,ll need to succeed, not the habit of pulling them down even if they appear better than the imported hogwash from Europe. Lagerback knew the time,s short but went on to disgrace Nigeria at the WC,if we don,t learn from this episode, we,re surely going to repeat it,hopefully not.SACK LAGERBACK NOW AND LET OUR COACHES CONTINUE FROM THERE.OUR COACHES CAN DO BETTER AND AND IT,LL COST US LESS.The money being wasted on Lagerback can upgrade ourcoaches to be at the level we want them to be.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so much Pain, can’t stand to hear these players talk.I live in South Africa but have become a laughing to my friends whom a boasted to about the quality of our boy . 0hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what pain am suffering.
As for Osaze, we should forgive him and hope he,s learned not to bite the fingers that feed him.
He and Etuhu must learn to address Nigerian coaches (with respect) from now on and avoid being drawn into making controversial statements that has the capability of disturbing their international careers.
Lars is an excellent coach any day any time. That he had to use a tournament like the world to understand that the players he thought were good for him, were not good, is quite unfortunate for him. But the irony of it is that he has learned his lessons. He just proved to the boys that there’s no automatic shirt in his team. He needs to be retained for at least 2 years so that he can build his team. He’s a man that knows what he wants and how to get it. No thanks to the players and the little time he had to prepare. Haruna, Enyeama, Martins, Echiejile, and perhaps Osaze(who needs to accept Martins as his striking partner if he must excel in the eagles again) still have a lot to offer. Nsofor should change his attitude if he must remain an eagle. Nigeria has no national team at the moment but a coach and a goalie. Let the so called NFF give Lars time please. Too bad that AIYEGBENI had to disgrace himself this way before saying good bye to the national team. That’s what i can drop here for now.
blame the nff for hiring amadu. what kind of football administrators will ignore a coach who played in the olympics finals and go for one who is jobless
A time like this we should be ashamed of ourself. sani lulu said because of personal problem with Siasia he will not allow Siasia get the Super Eagles job. The same sani lulu prevented ex Nigeria international JJ Okocha from seeing the Super Eagle while they were preparing for the world cup. How can people like this move our football forward… Yet he is lobbing for yet another term as the NFF Chairman, if he gets his wishes again Nigeria football is doomed.
I am greatful to God for the fact that a lot of people on this forum are begining to see clearly, as to identify the problem with Nigerian football. But it’s still a pity for some who stll put blames on the coaches we bring in. for a fact know that it was a shabby arrangement to bring in an unqualified coach like amodu, who could not even put together a starting eleven for 2 years and a visionless ,Selvish and corrupt NFF Who have no intrest in developing the game of football in nigeria, that put us in this position we are in today. When i look at state of Football in nigeria i see billions of naira and thousands of jobs that the beautiful Game would have been making for the youths of this Great Nation, no thanks to the hydra headed monster called CORRUPTION.Please let us not sacrifice the truth on the alter of patrotism, in terms of technical know how and management our coaches still have a long way to go, except for One like siasia. But mark my words if we go on to sack lagerback we would not be doing ourselves any good,.my suggestion is to leave him and start a constructive building process now with our home based players who are hungry for success and would be willing to learn. What we have now are a bunch of satisfied guys, u can’t motivate a satified player.istill belive greatly in Nigerian football!!!!!!
Charlie, that man go die a miserable death because him no want progress for Naija FOOTBALL. He and Aiyegbeni are cursed. Aiyegbeni has been exposed, disgraced and expelled. E remain those idiots called LULU, OGUNJOBI and OJO OBA. Naija football no go progress xcept dem vacate NFF.
I am greatful to God for the fact that a lot of people on this forum are begining to see clearly, as to identify the problem with Nigerian football. But it’s still a pity for some who stll put blames on the coaches we bring in. for a fact know that it was a shabby arrangement to bring in an unqualified coach like amodu, who could not even put together a starting eleven for 2 years and a visionless ,Selfish and corrupt NFF Who have no intrest in developing the game of football in nigeria, that put us in this position we are in today. And yet we clap that he qualified us for the world cup, no thanks to God and a resilient mozambiquan side that ensured our qualification. When i look at the state of Football in nigeria i see billions of naira and thousands of jobs that the beautiful Game would have been making for the youths of this Great Nation, no thanks to the hydra headed monster called CORRUPTION we are still in the dark ages. Please let us not sacrifice the truth on the alter of patrotism, in terms of technical know how and management our coaches still have a long way to go, except for One like siasia. But mark my words if we go on to sack lagerback we would not be doing ourselves any good,.my suggestion is to leave him and start a constructive building process now with our home based players who are hungry for success and would be willing to learn.”A sharp cuttlass is as good as it’s handler” if we don’t make good use of the knowldge of this coach it’s as good as not hiring him. What we have now are a bunch of satisfied guys, u can’t motivate a satified player.i still believe greatly in Nigerian football!!!!!!
Nigeria should not sack lagerback but give him a new 3 yrs contract. He is a very good manager, and it is not his job to score the goals. Uche and kanu impressed me, its a shame kanu’s leg cant hold up.
My comments is that, i want the entire NFF Officials to be sack ,simply bcos they failed to perform their duties in which Nigeria was unable to qualified for second round just bcos of their sentiments, why should they allowed L argerback to use a blunder Yakubu Ayegbeni at just an expensive match like that, pls let the whole NFF be sack immediately.
He didnt tell complete sport…he told other sport journal, dont take other peoples glory
all of u talking about lagarback are bunch of ignorant people..u said worse against amodu and siasia..the point is the coach wont get on the filed n put goals in the bet..instead crucify the players and not the coach and i think nff did nothing wrong in this..its just the stupid super worms we got
osaze remains a hero. what is wrong in someone saying the truth. the problem we have in this nation is that we are always afraid of accepting the truth. we often embrace a fedral character that ruins us. why can’t we make use of the best players we have irrespective of individual places of origin. siasia is far more better than shuibu and lagarback put together.
Stop blaming this coach—
The problem with Naija is that we are not patriotic.Look at the United States soccer team. They were down and out by full time against Algeria but they didn’t give up.They kept on pressing to the last minute before Donovan scored.Americans can do anything for thier country, they never give up when representing thier nation.
Compare this to the Eagles(I refuse to call them Super) We just needed to beat Korea and the useless player Fatubu had a chance that a neonate would have scored and missed yet he kept on chewing gum.He hasn’t even apologized to the nation for messing up because he dosent care.Donovan’s goal against Algeria was much harder than the chance Fatubu had yet he buried it for the love of his country yet my fellow nigerian is chewing gum. It’s pathetic. We should do a thorough cleansing about how things are done here so we can be proud of our nation and fight till the very end..If not, even murinho won’t suceed here as I feel a coach’s job is overated, its the player’s attitude to the game that really matters..Fatubu will never miss that chance for everton because he knows what will happen to his contract. To end my opinion, Fatubu, Yobo, Etuhu et al should please retire from the national team if they have shame.
I expected this, so I’m not disappointed. Yakubu’s juju works on coaches, NFF, NSC & other official, only the fans know that he can’t perform. Osaze should just keep his mouth shut. He and the others showed they are short sigthed and have little to offer naija. I propose a new SE with Enyeama as the captain (if we confirm his age to make sure this is not his peak). Ghana’s team is paying off because they planned ahead. The NFF can’t absorb itself from this failure. I don’t think they can perform if this is what they have to offer after 4years in office. if they had listened to the fans about Amodu long ago this mess would have been averted. Lets bring in new legs and healthy competition into the SEs. Take heart all fans. But know that we migth not qualify for the next world cup if genuine action is not taken immediately. Don’t call poeple that are collecting allowances they are not working for into committees. Long live naija.
no body should be blame.the blame should go 2 the usless NFFof our country.they are killing our football.the president should do something abt our sports.God bless nigeria.
I’m not in any way suprised at the failure of Nigeria at the ongoing world cup.Afterall, can anything good come out of Nigeria? In october we are looking forward to celebrating 50 years of darkness,no eletricity.50 yrs of money laundering,50 yrs of embezzlement,50 yrs of bribery and corruption,50 yrs of unemployment,50 yrs of election rigging,50 yrs of no portable drinking water,no good roads.50 yrs of human traficking,50 yrs of political sponsord assasinations,50 yrs of inter-tribal cum inter-religious wars.I can go on and on.The truth is,the next independence celebration will be a harvest of tears for this nation.Don’t tell me to pray for my country!I simply have stopped praying.Nigeria is simply the fulfilment of the Biblical tree that has refused to bear fruit, which Jesus said must be cut down. The axe has been laid on the tree.
I would have recommended the immediate removal of all those old fools and thieves in the NFF,but there is simply no time for any amendment. The reward for sin is death.Judgement is comming.Remember,He forgave all their sins, yet He punished everyone of their offences. What a God!
Those calling for the head of Osaze for lashing coach lagerback did not get it.The coach simply showed he has no knowledge of the players he selected for the tournament.Tell me,what was somebody like Kaita doing in that team?A person with a temperament like his is not supposed to represent an already failed nation.Or was his inclusion another display of the federal character syndrome,or one-Nigeria nonsense?People should stop crying over a spilt milk.Catch some sleep if you can.I rest my case.
First ,OSAZE is the most overrated players in the eagles set up..He has shown how useless he could be .
He is blaming Lagerback ,well for the first time ,the super eagles though unimpressive, had a game plan ,stick with it but for the bunch of useless players we have ,things would have been different .
VS ARGENTINA ,we had a glorious chance to tie the game : UCHE KALU ,couldn’t convert a simple tap in,OBASI ,wasted lots of opportunities.
VS GREECE ,stupid KAita’s red card , OBASI and YAKUBU couldn’t convert the easiest tap in goal in history that could have won the game for us ,still this Idiot called OSAZE is blaming LAgerback.
VS KOREA ,yakufat OBASI ,OBAFEMI wasted opportunities that could have won the game for us and we all still think its LAgerbacks fault that YAKubu,Obafemi couldn;t convert those easy goals. Coached tell what need to be done and players are suppose to do it. Lagerback wouldn’t come and score for us.
Its has been proven in American Football that there a direct relationship between players IQ and his performance on the field of play. Our players are filled with illiterates and retards hence, they are not SMART enough to think right or do right.
I feel the only good thing about this world cup is just Enyeama’s performances period. The rest is just that we have useless and unpatriotic players, average players that needs to be motivated by money before putting their best for Nigeria. you lots are waste of skins.
yea i am quite happy for some of the comments, but the problems rest on the players who use their own was tru the means of bias.. i based in Europe, all my friends where all mocking me, saying are these the best players we have in our country, even a player who call himself professional, seeing an empty net and can’t roll the ball into it…the problem in that country is that, we kept blaming on the coach when we know the right thing at the right time…is a pity, Nigeria is suppose the be the heart of Africa football, unfortunately, we are giving our lead to others..all eyes wr on Nigeria in this SA 2010, i was ashamed to talk in the mist of my friends, but now not me, shame to NFA and their crew…i can’t reject my country, God bless Nigeria.. i wish little Ghana best of luck…
i don’t have much to talk, but i will say that let NFF retain lagerback, his a good coach not 4 NFF change coach always let them give him 3 yera contract i believe he can do well
Lagerback is the best foreign coach to ever coach nigeria ,because if our player are competent is will not be difficuit for them to learn a football language;they 2 stop feel important tha country, how can yakubu chewing gum ,is not the time to problem the coach, the greatest player are not choosing by watching them on tv,he know osaze name,
Complete Sports, if you can not be giving us current news and updating your website regularly, please SHUT IT DOWN. I have to go to another african football websites to get Super Eagles news.
plssss, all i can keep saying is that we should stop overloading all the problems on the coach, the coach can only tell the players on what to do and he will not be the one to help them to kick the ball on the net..the players should be dealt with, the only mistake i saw with the coach is leaving yakubu to play full time with all his blinding mistake…get fresh boys mannnnnnnnnnn, to do the eagle’s job, these guy can’t fly as eagle..is so so so obvious..pity and shame to u yakubu and so call devil kaita….
I think we all know now that our salvation is not in the hands of a white man.
Omodu, Samson Siasia, Chuckwu, Omochachi, Oliseh could have, given the opportunity, taken the team deep in the world cup. Is there any reason Kanu has not started any of the games so far? Is there any reason Odemiwingie is not allowed to play his free flow type of game he is known for? Why is a sloppy player like Kaita on the team? First the NFF people defrauded the nation by hiring a failed coach of Lagerback. If he were that good, Sweden would be in the tournament. You see some Nigerians have joined the band wagon that once it is white, it is perfect. Lulu fooled the country with a mediocre coach, and orchestrated the firing of Omodu who qualified the country to world cup with the players he knows better than Lagerback. It is all politics, meaning that a Hausa man must play even if he knows nothing about soccer, let alone have his temper under control. If he had a dagger, perhaps, he would have stabbed the Greek to dead! What an embarrassment that would have been to Nigeria and the world over! Thank God he only infamously kicked the man. See, Nigeria’s problem is caused by corrupt, inept, fools that have dragged a nation that was once poised to stardom to the mud. I have all my mail to officials in Nigeria pleading with them to hire an accomplished Nigerian born coach in Gaithersburg who has made a name for himself, yet, the so-called officials rebuffed my correspondence. They can rest assured they will face litigation in what they have done to our young men who labored hard to represent the country. I do not lose hope in the team, if they have a good coach, they can still make impact in the tournament. But with Lagerback, a win will be individual’s effort for the man has no coaching skills. If he stood there at the sideline and did not instruct the players to defend the Argentina’s corner against Nigeria, he has no business coaching the team he should be on his way to Stockholm. Lulu should leave NFF; this man is a curse to Nigerian Soccer Future.
Above comment was made after Nigeria’s loss to South Korea, so don’t get lost.
This idiot of a boy complains about every coach. Even if his father is a coach he will still criticize him. What did he contribute to the 2010 tournament in terms of performance.
Somebody need to ask this guy what he has been smoking. He was a vocal critic of Amodu, now that Lagerback has benched him for non performance, Amodu’s sacking was a mistake by his estimation. (because perform or not Amodu would have fielded him. Bloody clown!)
Like Chief Odegabami said, Super Eagles is full of average players at this time. We have to start searching for the new generation of stars in our local league. We have 4 years to prepare for Brazil 2014 and 2 years to 2012 Nations Cup. Let stop crying over our failure in South Africa. Its time to get busy. Right now.
One thing we all need to know is that you can never satisfy Nigeria,s. no matter what.Tell me the coach who have taken us to major tournament without a blame. They always blame coaches in the case of player and blam the officials in the case of playersI wonder why so people will blam The caoch Lar.I did his part by telling the players what to do to creat chances and the chances were created on that the stupid attackers did not score the goals. The only way forward now is to give the coach more hand by extending his contract and allow him to choose freash, young, and hungry players.Team building requires time and process and him Lar should be give the above two to make a good and formidable team that Nigeria can be pround of.The worst disaster will be for NNF to discontinue his contract .That will take us to point one again.Overrall the team did do all that bad and HArd luck was one of the element.Look at cameroon, They are yet to register a point, look at france they went home with one point.Bottom line, if you don,t prepare well you won,t perform so lets leran from this and allow the coach to continue and stop blaming any body.As for Osaze, he thought he will be playing every match as he did under amodu. My advise to him is that there are lot of players like him and he need to proof to lar that he is better than them to feature in all his matches.LAR is a good coach that is the type of coach we need.A coach u cannot bribe or influence, a coach that stick to his game plan and a coach that can control his players.
Tai, with due respect, Odemewingie was not allowed to paly his kind of game; therefore his comments are legitimate. He is an intelligent player. When he came in the second half against Argentina, the game changed. If he had started, he would have single handedly contested or challenged the corner that resulted in the lone goal of the match. So you have got to be analytical if you must evaluate Osaze. With him and Kanu intact in the match, it would have made a difference. Lagarback is not for Nigeria, unless Lulu with his gang is not tired of defrauding Nigerian youths of their future and money.
Pls you guys should stop criticizing me…do you think is easy to score in an empty net??? tell me how many players had achieved this for the past decades?? My records can speak for itself. There can never be none like me.You people are saying that half fit IK uche is better than me……..in what way??? can he lose goals more than me????
SHAMEFUL , THOUGHTLESS COMMENTS .
A GOOD TEAM IS MADE WITH A COACH & HIS CREW , AND AT LEAST 11 GOOD PLAYERS , AND 11 AVERAGE .
BUT WE ONLY HAVE A GOOD COACH , AND AVERAGE PLAYERS !!!! NIGERIANS SHOULD ACCEPT IT OR STOP ALL THE HULLA BALLO !!!
HOW MANY NIGERIANS PLAY REGULARLY , AND IN THE TOP & ELITE CLUBS ……. NONE !!!!! , BECAUSE NIGERIAN PLAYERS ARE JUST MERE AVERAGE , AND WE EXPECT THEM TO PERFORM MIRACLES , WHEN TOP TEAMS LIKE ITALY , FRANCE EVEN STILL STRUGGLE WITH EXCELLENT PLAYERS ….. , FELLOW SOCCER FANS . THINK !!!!
I may not be in support of keeping coach Largerback because of financial involvement and I personally don’t see him been better Sampson Siasia. But did he tell mathins and Yakubu not to score those goals?.Let us give Siasia the job but still respect Largerback because he tried his best.
Idcabasa-I agree with you. We should not blame the coach, when a so call professional football player can not score goal inside six yards.
I am appalled at the level of criticism and insults some of you have heaped on Osaze for speaking up. Those that have insulted him here have only proved their colonial mentality. “Oyibo is always right” and they love to “serve the master”. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Large Back would be made to answer for the poor showing in the world cup tournament if he were coaching a civilized society. But obviously, Nigeria and Nigerians are showing here they are not civilized or bold enough to question a man they paid $1.5 million for 3 months to deliver good results in the world cup. Just incase ya’ll forgot, this is the world cup and its every 4 years. This is the tournament for the best players from every country. This man said he can do it and that he knows every Nigerian players overseas very well. Some of the “he-goats” he brought to the world cup are clearly close to 40yrs old or more. Even with his extra set of eyes, he missed it all. Osaze is right to speak up. He has earned the right to speak up. The guy even cut off his hair-do to show his committment to the cause but ya’ll failed to see that. He gives his all each and everytime but ya’ll have forgotten that as well. Those that have insulted him are the one that should SHUT UP!
Too late to complain, Osase take it like a professional. I think by now NFF would have learn their lessons, solution to this mess we found our football is to dissolve NFF,COACHING CREW and SUPER EAGLE, bring in Samson Siasia to start the restructuring in the team.
Thank you and God bless us all
The FG should wade in ,if possible, and sack Lagerback. He has destroyed what our Nigerian coaches took time to build and as a result deserve,s to be sacked for a Nigerian to continue from there.During the WC, it was apparent why the Swedish FA sacked this man, his input in the team was very minimal if not null.Kaita was given a red card, what did we see from the coach? nothing.A good coach would have done something to change the game after that red card. His substitutions and selections for is also suspect and to cap it all,he,s as docile as a dumb on the bench,no actions,no energy. We want one of our own to continue from here, enough of this inferiority complex,I firmly believe we have someone who can do better in Nigeria, we must look for that someone and spare ourselves further disgrace and denigration. Our football coaching jobs should be reserved for our people and when we need a foreigner, he should be the best out there not half baked, fake messiah.
We should not except any good result from players the and the coach ,Let Nigeria NFF take the blems. The should have give samson saisais this job to build up this team .And lack to learn from the mistake .He took clement westerof four yrs ,to build 94 team .The simple truth the glass house should break so that we build up football team ,if not .
OSAZE u hv turned the spoke man of Our darling Super Eagles, when Amodu didn’t give us the Nation Cup u were the 1st to criticize him! Now u re criticizing Lagerbarge!! If not for the fact that we lack quality players u think we will look 2 ur direction? My opinion is just that we are in a transition process, Nigerian’s take heart.
na wa 4 nig oooooooooooooooo i beg freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee me
Those who failed to plan must planned to fail , also you cant eat you cake and still have it. We desrve the shameful exit from the tournament. The white man deserves no blame at all. The tournament of four years we now give it to someone within three weeks to prapare players for it. What magic do we expect the man to perform? This Osaze that is making mouth against his coach, what was his impact in the team during the tournament? Am not opportune to watch Nigeria against Agentina but his performance against Greece was zero, I didnt see any meaningful contribution he made that day. What happen to our team is reflection of what is happenning in our society. There is nobody that can say NFF doesnt have hand in the selection of those players unless if we want to deceive ourselves. I will suggest that the NFF should be overhaul. They are mess. Also the team should be dibanded and the new player should be called. From the time I saw the name of Yakubu and Yobo, I knew will cant pass through the group stage. Yakubu is a mess of it all. The death of Uche and Anichebe that was dropped is better than the life of Yakubu. I know quite sure that it is the work of NFF. Let the boys that played in the last under 20 and 17 form the new set of eagle. We will be talking of the experience, how many of the selected players brought their experience into bear during the tournament? See Ghana team, how many experience players are in the team? They are playing together like a team because most of them are from their junior teams. To Nigeria, the reverse is the case. We wont give our junior one a chance, we will be saying that they dont have experience. If you dont use them how are they going to acquire the experinece. We need a good team and good football. NFF should stop saying sorry to Nigerians anytime they failed us, what I expect of them is that they should say they resign from their post. I know it will be difficult for them to do because of the kick back (ijekuje) they are collecting. Shame to NFF.
All of you have spoken well including Osaze at leastw e all are entiltled to our own opinion.its quite surprsi8ng to hear osaze speak from the other side of his mouth condeming Lars Lagerback for his techiniques.tactics and substitution when it was the same Osaze that told us that Amodu doent have all it takes to be a world cup coach and NFF did well to get Lars who has within a short time of less than two weeks has taught them what football is realy all about. Please Osaze Lars was not why you guys failed and disgraced Nigerians..none of you had what it takes to be in a world cup stage..what with your selfish play againt Argentina and lack of stamina? or your wastefull balls when you played against Greece..so pls shut up and go and learn football..even Kanu at his age played better than you..or was it cos you didnt play made Yakubu to waste a goal in an empty net? even an old woman could have scored that..you should be ashamend of yourself watching Ghana play thier heart out for thier country.we dont even need you anymore in super eagles…
And the way forward now?is to allow Lars continue from where he stoped cos he did so well in just 3 weeks but then let thier infusion of younger players with zeal and determination..players like enyeama, kalu uche,martins,kaita.ogbuke.Nsofor,Ike uche,Enaramo and olympic boys like haruna, adeleye, mikel, haruna, rabiu ibrahim, ideye and other local league players like suswam ,bassey akpan should be called up and this high blood pressure match of super eagles will end.
Nobody should apportion blames on the players when we all know the truth behind our failure. the fact remains that if nothing is done to kick lulu and his cohorts out of that class house, our football will always witness the down turn. we all knew that siasia would have done better than lagerback still he was sidelined because they know he will not select players of their choice. can somebody tell me the reason why Yaks was choosing ahead of Martins, that is the nff politics. if lagerback should open the cann of worms on what really transpired in his contract terms with the nff, we will all be stunned. the truth is that Lulu and his people has brought another disgrace to the nation.
To me, Osaze was not impressive in the tournament.Yakubu is a failure.Dickson Etuhu also contributed a lot to Eagles failure in the mid-field as he is a lazy playe .He sleeps so deeply on the pitch that even his passes were not accurate.I wonder how he was even able to make the squad in the first place.Coach Lars was even unaware of this fact and that was why he kept using him. The solution to our football problems must take effect from now.
Our players don’t know how to attack an opponent as they give so much space to their opponents to operate.I want us to take a quick look at Siasia boys against Argentina. How many shots-on-goal were fired by Messi.
Somebody NFF should draft Siasia into the SE now before it is too late. The guy is a bundle of fortune to Nigerian football if given a level-playing ground to operate.I am not saying Lars is not a good coach but we need someone who really understand our football terrain.
Experience has nothing to do here because the same experience could not get us any useful result at the Mundial.Lars must go, an indigeneous, no non-sence, unbiased coach like Siasia should be given the S/Eagles coaching job.The problem with Amodu is that he is not a youth developer. He does not believe in our local players who are ready to do anything to get results for our dear S/Eagles.
The NFF should place the interest of the nation first and not their pocket. We can do it if our priorities are set right.
Mr. Osaze, if you do not know wht to say, just shut up and keep quiet…. our main problem came frm the NFF, do you tell me that they are not the people who made dat selection??? the fault is not the coach, its the NFF Crew… they employed a coash and still have to direct him on who and who will play… they need the whole tribes to participate, Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba must represent nigeria on the pitch not good players, if not tell me why must kaita play when there are better players on the bench, John Utaka, Obinna Nsofor etc… you cant tell me that the best players nigeria has are those chickens dat went to south africa and disgraced themselves…
But the most stupid and foolish ididotic striker i ever seen in my life is Yakubu Aiyebgeni… i dont even know where his name came from…. I hate dat guy pass obasanjo… he went to imitate Anelka’s Goal Celeberation i.e (Crossing two hands on the heart and shaking the fingers) but when anelka noticed dat his celeberation has been imitated by a fool, he left it and chose another style of celeberation i.e (Pointing to the air and warning his imitators) … Yakubu is a disgrace to the whole brotherhood..
SORRY MY FELLOW NIGERIANS ME SELF NO NO SEY WATIN I DEY GO BUST LIKE THE $120 TRILLION DOLLARS FAKE CHECK I SEND TO USA LAST YEARS.. BECAUSE ME LIARS BACK HAVE CONLUCDED THAT HE SHOULD ACT LIKE A COAH BUT NO ONE GO EVER NO SAY LIARS LAGERBACK IS A DISPATCHER TO LULU BECAHSE HIS THE ONE THAT ALWAYS DISPACTH ANY CHECK LULU SEND TO USA AND OTHER COUNTRY…… WELL I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY MORE GOD BLESS NIGERIAN BUT I GO DO BETTER NEXT TIME IF PRISIDENT NO SACK ME OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
my fear is that the coach might be wrongly sacked for not going pass the first round….but the truth still remain that the coach tried…lets be sincere which of our player is fit or has been consistent in their club both the guy’s that went to the world cup and those dropped -non….so lets hope if the coach is left to continue with the job and this boys continue as a team to play together and more friendlys..i believe there will be a bond and team work and mostly mental developement should into the teams training……….
Osaze is an OK player But Now he is Proving he is a Tout and Big Fool by Talking anyhow and Foolishly… I wonder which Coach he wont Complain about.. And i really wonder what he performed in the matches he Played for him to be making too Much Noise.. Well he already showed he is from Russia and there Blood in Him.. Cant even Behave like a professional footballer but like The Shameless Kaita..
The Solution is This.. The Football Federation of Nigeria has to be Dissolved.
Ex International Players Capable should be Appointed to Handle Football Affairs.
And Coaches whichever that is selected should not be sacked like they mean nothing, but be giving considerable Time to Prove What They Can do with time and make corrections.
Amodu was giving enough time and have been on the coaching seat for Long with No results, so in my opinion, no need for him again.
Siasia has Been on Coaching seat and has performed much better, So he can be giving some Chance if need be or if The Current present Coach “Lagerback” refuses to extend his contract.
Lagerback if he agrees on the 4year contract, should then be giving enough time now to build a better Young energetic Players and fast Players for better performance and results..
There Should be NO sentiments in Football, No favorites, PURE YOUNG ENERGETIC IN-FORM FOOTBALLERS…..
Bye Bye to jati jati. We a new set of eagles. Lager back is not the problem of Nigeria sports. Let’s go back to the drawing board. We should stop passing the buck
I think it’s typical of Osaze to slam his coaches after each tournament. He said the same thing aganst SIASIA and AMODU. He has a serious problem of COMPLEX. He needs to apologise to all the coaches if he hopes to continue to make progress. On the other hand, i think the whole blame of our failure in SA 2010 should rest squarely on the NFF and the cabals led by ADAMU and EKEJI who conspired to cheat SIASIA out of the job of handling the SUPER EAGLES. That was where our problem strted from, not because AMODU was not allowed to go to SA 2010, at least he benefited from the conspiracy against the winner of the test and interview. The solution is to allow SAMSON SIASIA to contiue with what he started in 2005 which these wicked people truncated because of vested interest, selfishness and ego.
In my last posting here i predicted that government and PTF not NFF, i repeat not NFF has only succeeded in making AMODU a demi-god by making sure he was sacked, and i also warned that when the chips are down that yhey should accept the blame and not look for where to shift it to.
I have said it repeatedly that AMODU SHUIBU is aGENIUS time and history shall prove right [mark my words].
GOVERNMENT AND PTF shoud be held responsible, they derailed this wrld cup and not NFF as they are trying hard to make everybody believe., I warned before this tournament in this site that when all is over they should be courageous enough to accept responsablity and that none of them should “run”, iguess you can see that they have already started the run away from thier ‘CONCUCTION’

osaze, you have have done your best in the qualifying stages, you may not no how bad you were in your games with greece I wish you can watch the video again and see how you were doing. you were out of the game not because the coach hate you as you may think, the reason was very simple, you were very bad, I have the video with me, I base in Europe, I have watched you play in nigeria and your club before, but I never think you could do so poorly the way you did in yur last game. I dont blame eagle for anything because a failed country cannot raise a formidable team.
Here we all go again with the USUAL blame passing after every tournament.too bad that we are still far from solving our problems. NFF is and will always be the biggest problem of our football. For those of you who think Largerback is the problem that is a very myopic statement.Let me tell u that it takes time to build a solid team and to understand the strength of your players. The man is not a magician , to perform that in two weeks, afterall a top coach like fabio cappello after more than one year as england coach is still struggling. For those who think our players are ok ,i say too bad for YOU. becos i see them as a bunch of unproffessional players. what kind of proffessional can’t score from 4 metres away from goal? what kind of professionals cannot convert set pieces, what kind of professional can’t make an accurat pull-out ? what we need is time to build a new team fom home with a new mentality to perfect totally the art of football. if una no get anything better to yarn abeg make una go sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Osaze is an empty barrel. Amunike was not used at all until the final of the nations cup ,in Tunisia 1994. He kept his calm until the opportunity came, the rest is history. What is true of Osaze and most of the players is that they have passed their peak. all of them are on the average 5 years older than the age they are claiming. I PUT THE BLAME OF THE DETERIORATION OF THE SUPER EAGLES ON AMODU. Amodu refused and was too cautious in using new players over the two years he was in charge even in friendly matches. He was so careful to preserve his unbeaten record and we find it difficult to transform olympic silver medal two years ago to a standard world team. He will always use the same old players no matter what. The bulk of the team was built by Chukwu 8 years ago.We will not be in this shame if the Amodu had taken the olympic team to Angola, that was what Ghana did and see the result. The bulk of the Ghanaian team was beaten by our u20 in 2005 african championship in Benin.
As a nation, our performance is woeful and a clear reflection of the level of organization in the country. True to our ways of handling important affairs, we have left national team management to chances, entrusted our fate into wrong hands and naively expected miracles. But as in most competitions miracles simply don’t happen. How dear we complain of being disappointed, when actually what we had hoped for was miracle. Our boys, being victims of the whole corrupt system, have tried their best. Another issue is that their best is not good enough to match our expectation. It’s either we learn fast and master the trade or we remain perpetually “unlucky”. Period.
Always welcome,

Whether you like it or not, Osaze is a hero as far as Nigerian football is concerned. But, Osaze should shut. Not for the same reasons given by the other posters, but for a different reason. I’ll come back to Osaze later on.
Lagerback should be jailed! Why? He got the job by deception. Amodu deserved to be sacked. Why? Because we can get, and deserve a better coach; an indigenous one, but should’ve been after the world cup. I always ask people around me, why sack Amodu when you can’t recruit a better coach; for this reason alone, members of NFF should be tried and publicly disgraced.
Oh, I have too much to say about the mediocrity that gripped our football in recent times and which has refused to go away. I don’t even know where to start..
Let me start this way: Time was, when football was a sport. It is no longer a sport. It is now business. A lot of Nigerians are yet to come to terms with this fact. And until they do, they will keep being the greatest enemy of Nigerian football without knowing it. They do this by applauding whatever mediocrity the charlatans at NFF throw at them, the most recent being the sack of the man who qualified the ‘Green Chickens’ [pardon my use of words, I have to respect the real 'Super Eagles team', I mean the 1994 squad] and the hiring of the light-skinned Amodu [ Sorry, I mean Lars Shaibu].
Until we start clamouring for the right thing, poor results shall be our lot.
My people, the whites have succeeded in brainwashing us Africans into believing we can’t play football any other style than the European style. No doubt, the European style is sleek and a delight to watch, but do you know what happens to people who try to copy someone else’s style? They end up as second best.
Go through the records, at the junior and Olympics level, African teams consistently out-perform their European counterparts. What happens a few years later when our boys go overseas to make money as ‘bench warmers’? They end up as second best and we nail their ‘coffins’ by bringing European coaches who we believe are better than our indigenous coaches who guided them to conquer the world at the junior and Olympics level to take them to major mundials. And do we end up as second best? Oh yes, all the time!
I cry for Africa! When will our eyes open to know that the whites don’t really wish us well even when it apparently seems so? They believe we should know anything they don’t tell us, and we take it in hook, line and sinker. How could any sensible Nigerian argue that Lagerback who couldn’t qualify his own country and who left them in the 40th position from the 20th position he met them is better than Amodu who qualified his country and won bronze in the Nations cup. Obviously, this is out of the belief that the dullest white is better than the brightest black. This is an extremely appalling belief.
Don’t get me wrong, time was when Amodu was arguably the best indigenous coach. But now? He can’t beat his chest and say that. He knows. He knows who the best is.
I wonder why anybody would argue that Siasia is not experienced enough to be Super Eagles coach. Madness! The same people accuse Amodu of not discovering new players. So what happens to the Siasia that has proven his talents in discovering new players for the senior team. For the avoidance of doubt, the Mikels, the Taiye Taiwos, the Chinedu Ogbuke’s are who they are today courtesy Siasia. He brought them up.
If we must move Nigerian football forward and save Nigerians heart-related diseases as was the case of the people who gullibly believed before the 2010 world cup that the light-skinned Amodu has put the likes of Yakubu in the form of their of lives and were expectant of good results, we should start looking inwards.
We should learn to put round pegs in round holes. The best coach for the Super Eagles team is an indigenous coach. Who is the best indigenous coach right now? The answer is not far-fetched, it’s Siasia. One, however, begins to wonder why NFF would not want to put round pegs in round holes.
But is it truly their fault? A lot of Nigerians encouraged them to go for a foreign coach. Osaze was at the fore-front. So I who no Nigerian suffering from heart-related disease as a result of the Green Chikens dismal performance any apology. Osaze inclusive. They were expectant of what they did not sow. It serves them right because they are enemies of Nigerian football in the first instance. Knowingly or unknowingly. As for Osaze, this is just the beginning of his woes. Other anti-Amodu and anti-indigenous coach Nigerians, watch-out for your own frustrastions.
For we pro-indigenous coach believers, we shall keep our fingers crossed. At least Amodu won bronze after 2 years of ‘fumbling and rumbling’, so Lagerback should win gold in two years time. Isn’t it? I know you’ll definitely have another excuse for him then. I only wonder what it will be then.
As for me, I’ll keep enjoying every single goal, the Green Chickens concede under the foreign coach.
Oh, how I enjoyed the three matches the LagerShaibu boys played in South Africa. It’s weird!!!!
Nigerians, we got to chase those crazy puppets out of our country now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
osaze plssssssssss never you bring ur temperament into ur career cos it can rue all you have built i luv you sooo much don’t dis appoint ur fans like stupid kaita
Osazes comment are that of a drowning man. He performed woefully in the tournament and i can sense some bit of arrogance in the way he talks. He better watch it, because pride goes before destruction.

@chrys Udoh, Wash. DC, I am amazed at your level of contribution especially about Lars lagerback.
It really shows how depraved you are about the technical abilities of the man and i wonder if you ever watched the world cup to ascertain the technical acumen of the man. Your argument about the local coaches is untenable. The issue here, is not about the local coaches or foreign coaches, the crux of the matter is ‘COMPETENCE’…competency does not give respect to color or language, people shd not mix up issues here, the coaching job should not be given based on sentiments of local or foreign. the determining factor here is competence, pls with all sense of sincerity, has Amodu proved his worth as a coach of super eagles, when it was all glaring to us that we were winning matches because were actually playing against underdeveloped teams in Africa, eg Zambia and Benin republic ( that could have beaten us if not for mother luck). in my opinion, the job should be given to someone who can deliver, who knows how to read game, make some necessary changes and entrench discipline into the team and this by chance the NFF has done by given the job to Mr Lars. So far Mr Lars has proved himself to possess these atrributes and if after his sojourn in Nigeria football, the same yardstick of technicalities shoud be used to appoint coach, either Local or foreign. The Nigeria of my dream will be the one that celebrates excellence irrespective of colour, language, tribes etc and not mediocrity in the name of indigenous or local coaches or foreign coaches as the case may be.
For NFF posterity will not forgive you for the havoc you wrecked on Nigeria football and for all the players that think they are greater than Nigeria as a country, it’s time they took the path of honour by quitting the round leather game. God Bless Nigeria and God bless the new breed Super Eagles.
I believe it is high time we asked Amodu what happened in the 2002 world Cup and 2010 world cup. Each the team had a good buildup to the tournament only to fumble at the tournament when it mattered most, even missing an empty net chance. Are we sure Amodu did not take his bitterness and frustration to a spiritual height, I earnestly believed he must visited a shrine and bewitched the Eagles on those occasions, if not somebody explain to us what happened, its just beyond a physical thing or what we are thinking.
its only a blind person that did not notice the difference between the nation’s cup and world cup super eagles.Super eagles world cup problem started the day NFF allowed Amodu to take them to the nations cup.A new coach would have used the nations cup to study the team and players and know who to take to the world cup and how to use them.Lagerback should be retained and given a free hand to establish a new Super eagles that will compete in the next nations and world cup tournaments.
i,4 once did not expect the super chickens to perform any better in sa.not because they cannot but with the type of politics playing out itself at the FA,How can we at these time pay a lagerback of a man $3000,000 for doing nothing .how much was Amodu paid in all his days with the SE?we should think wellnd get siasia to do a serious job 4 us with a different set of boys and mentality, ppl like kaita, martins, yakubu and his co travelers should leave us alone, their time is up and they have nothing more to offer. No wonder mikel cooked up the injury case to escape this show of shame.Shame to the administrators in the glass house———–
Ranting of a sinking man.May be you had forgoten so soon your comment over Amodu”s sack.We all know our problem is not Largerback or its the coach that would convert all those begging chances?what of the commitment ?kai…you people are disgrace. Before the competition Mumuni Alao rated us last in the group backed with facts, now we know better.Another is the true age of these boys.Osase what is your true age?Dont lets talk of Yakubu,Obafemi,Yobo. We will never learn. But count yourself out of EAGLES if Largerback remains Eagles coach.
Osase We have not known you to be like this not till now.Why trying to shift the blame to Lars instead of appologizing to the nation for leting her down.Your coments against Shaibu and Lars is unbecoming of you and you better watch it before you destroy yourself.Whatever is your coment is nuacceptable to us you are a disgrace.
