Coach Manu Garba will lead Nigeria’s U20 national team to the 2015 African Youth Championship in Senegal without the duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakili.
Manchester City, the players’ club have informed the Nigeria Football Federation that they will not release the influential duo for the AYC which serves as qualifiers for the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
Iheanacho is reportedly injured while Nwakali will be sent out on loan in the current winter transfer window.
Iheanacho was the MVP of the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the UAE, while Nwakali was also an influential player and arguably one of the revelations of the cadet World Cup.
Do you think the Flying Eagles will miss both promising stars? Will their absence instead be a motivation for the team?
What do you think is the minimum mandate for the Flying Eagles if they do not prosecute the AYC with their key players: Just qualifying for the U20 World Cup or Winning the AYC?
