Players of Akwa United have taken delivery of the house reward promised them by the Akwa Ibom State Government as reward for winning the 2015 Federation Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Each player of the Akwa United that won the 2015 Federation Cup took delivery of a thresh-bedroom bungalow on Friday, November 18, 2016.
Completesportsnigeria.com checks revealed that the houses are located at Ikot Ekpene, a town on the border between Akwa Ibom and Aba in Abia State.
We also scooped that all documents relating to ownership of the houses were also given out to the delighted players at the same time.
"We'have received the houses promised us by the (Akwa Ibom) state government for winning the Federation Cup last year," one of the players, Johnson Olewezi told Completesportsnigeria.com on Sunday morning.
"That was on Friday and I'm personally happy about it and grateful to the governor," Olewezi, a former (now defunct) Dolphins of Port Harcourt midfielder told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Uwem Ekoh, spokesman of the Promise Keepers confirmed the development.
"The houses as promised by the governor to the players for winning last year's Federation Cup have been given out to the beneficiaries," a delighted Ekoh told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"That was on Friday. All the papers relating to ownership, I mean allocation paper and Certificate of Occupancy have also been issued to the players."
The Akwa United official also disclosed that what remains now is the cash the governor promised the players.
"As I speak to you now, what remains is the cash, N2m each, promised the players and that will be paid soonest," Ekoh added.
Akwa United defeated Lobi Stars 2-1 at Teslim Balogun Stadium to win last year's Federation Cup, the first by any club from that state in 62 years.
