Home-based Eagles forward, Tunde Adeniji is ready to shoulder the team's goalscoring responsibilities in the absence of skipper of the side, Gbolahan Salami.
Salami opted out of the squad to facilitate a move to Europe, and won't be with the team in Rwanda, leaving the likes of Adeniji and Chikatara as main strikers in the side, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Sunshine Stars forward insists that he, along with other strikers in the team, are looking forward to doing well in the competition.
"It's unfortunate that Salami (Gbolahan) will not be with us in Rwanda, but I'm ready to shoulder the goal scoring responsibilities for the team," Adeniji told Completesportsnigeria.com at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos Saturday morning moments before flying to South Africa with the team for a training camp.
"There are other good strikers in the team and together we can make things happen for the team.
"Our target is to do better than we did two years ago in South Africa.
"We know it's going to be tough out there in Rwanda, but we are ready for the task out there."
