Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung revealed on Sunday that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the payment of Super Eagles’ allowances and bonuses ahead of their African Nations Championship group opener against the Mena of Niger on Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.
Completesportsnigeria.com had reported that the Eagles’ camp conditions were far from ideal while they were at their training camp in Pretoria, South Africa and this will come as welcome news.
The minister who was accompanied by Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick and top NFF officials visited the Super Eagles’ Hillview base on Sunday evening unannounced and calmed frayed nerves of the players and officials alike over what they would earn as camp allowances and bonuses.
Besides, Dalung revealed that the sports ministry has also approved the team winning bonuses up to a certain stage which he refused to divulge.
“I’m happy to announce to you that President Buhari has approved your winning bonus and camp allowance right from Abuja,” Dalung said.
He further charged the players to do the nation proud by starting on a winning note against their Nigerien counterparts and bring the trophy home.
“The President also thanks the coaching crew and all the players for your perseverance and he is urging you to go all out for the trophy,” he added.
