Akpala Bags Goal No5, Simon Shines, Onazi Benched

Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala was on target for KV Oostende who drew 3-3 at home against Waasland-Beveren in the Belgian league on Sunday.

Akpala scored on 14 minutes to make it 1-1. Other scorers for Oostende were Fernando Matos and Knowledge Musona, while Siebe Schrijvers (brace) and Thibault Moulin scored for Waasland-Beveren.

The goal was Akpala’s fifth in 22 league appearances.

Still in Belgium, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon was on from the start for Gent who beat Anderlecht 2-0.
Simon later made way for Simon Diedhiou on 90 minutes, but Imoh Ezekiel was benched for the match.

In England, Alex Iwobi was a 72nd minute substitute for Theo Walcott in Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Stoke at the Britannia.

The youngster has featured in four Premier League games for Arsenal. Osaze Odemwingie was not called into action for the game as he was an unused substitute.

Eagles assistant captain, Ogenyi Onazi, was left on the bench for 90 minutes as Lazio played 2-2 away to Bologna in the Italian Serie A.

Emanuele Giaccherini and Mattia Destro gave Bologna a 2-0 lead but Antonio Candreva and Senad Lulic rescued a point for Lazio.

And in Turkey, Eagles defender, Godfrey Oboabona, saw 90 minutes of action for Rizespor who lost 3-2 at home to Genclerbirligi.
