Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun was in action for Mainz in their 2-1 home win against Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga on Friday.
Balogun, who featured for 90 minutes, was however yellow-carded in the game.
Gaetan Bussmann put Mainz ahead on 33 minutes before Younes Belhanda equalized for Schalke on 46 minutes.
With 11 minutes remaining, Julian Baumgartlinger secured all the three points for Mainz with his goal.
In the Turkish Super League, Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo made a 90 minute appearance in Kasimpasa’s 3-1 loss to Fenerbahce.
The Chelsea on loan player got booked in the 42nd minute.
Diego, Robin Van Persie and Alper Potuk all scored for Fenebahce, while Sanharib Bueyneksal scored Kasimpasa’s only goal.
Moses Simon was substituted as early as the 28th minute in Gent’s 2-0 win against Mouscron-Peruwelz in the Belgian league.
Simon went off for Mbark Boussoufa who alongside Danijel Milicevic, got Gent’s goals.
In Serie A, Nigerian youngsters Umar Sadiq and Nura Abdullahi, were unused substitutes for Roma who beat Carpi 3-1 away.
On parade for Carpi was Uche Mbakogu who got yellow-carded on 54 minutes.
Sadiq has appeared in six Serie A games, scoring two goals, while Abdullahi is yet to taste action.
The trio of Lucas Digne, Edin Dzeko and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, who faces the Super Eagles in March, got Roma’s goals.
Carpi’s only goal came off the boots of Kevin Lasagna.
