AFCON Qualifiers: Algeria Demolish Ethiopia, Mali Pip Equatorial Guinea

Islam Slimani sealed a 7-1 demolition of Ethiopia with his second of the night into stoppage time in a Group J match in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on Friday night at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker.

Kebede scored the Walya Antelopes' consolation goal five minute earlier when it was 6-0.

Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli had scored a brace on the restart to add to Ethiopia's misery. 

Rachid Ghezzal, Saphir Taider and Yacine Brahimi got the other goals for the Desert Foxes. 

In a Group C game of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers also on Friday night Mali broke the deadlock in Bamako with 10 minutes to go, thanks to Molla Wague after a scoreless 80 minutes to hand Equatorial Guinea a 1-0 defeat. The game had seemed to be heading for a draw.  

Malawi managed to earn a valuable point following a goalless draw against Guinea in their 2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier at the 28 SeptemberStadium in Conakry on Friday night.

Both teams have battled in Group L and occupy the two bottom places with just two points each after three games. Guinea are now bringing up the rear in Group L on 2 points, on equal footing with third-placed Malawi who have scored 1 more goal so far.

Swaziland and Zimbabwe drew 1-1 earlier today in the other group's game.
