Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala was on target on Sunday as Arsenal Ladies were victorious in the Women’s Super League with a 2-0 win over Notts County.
After a tense first half with little by way of goalscoring opportunities, the Gunners burst into life and grabbed the lead when Oshoala rounded Notts County keeper Megan Walsh before slotting in the opener in the 47th minute.
Arsenal’s Emma Byrne was dismissed for a foul on former Gunner Ellen White in the second half, but Arsenal Ladies were not dauntedside as they scored again just 10 minutes after the red card.
Walsh failed to deal with a corner from Danielle van de Donk, losing her balance and dropping the ball over the line to give Arsenal a two-goal cushion which would see them claim all three points.
Oshoala could have opened scoring in the first half as she did well to take down a cross from Dan Carter, but she fired narrowly wide of the far post.
The Nigerian star Oshoala went close again just seconds before the whistle, charging past Notts County skipper Laura Bassett before forcing a fine save from Walsh.
