WHO WINS BATTLE BETWEEN FIRST AND THIRD?
Log leaders Enyimba’s title quest suffered a hitch last weekend when they went down to a 2-1 defeat against El-Kanemi Warriors in Katsina. They face a massive test on Sunday against third-placed Wikki Tourists at the Enyimba Sports Stadium, Aba.
Only four points separate both sides on the log and a win for either of them will no doubt prove crucial in the title race.
Wikki have the second best away record in the league this season and have proved they have what it takes to pick crucial points on the road.
RELEGATION FIGHT IN GARDEN CITY DERBY
Dolphins have achieved more success than their local rivals Sharks in recent years, but that will count for nothing when both sides tackle each other in a Glo Premier League clash at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Games between them in recent times have ended in drab stalemates but that could change this time around with both sides desperately in search of maximum points to boost their survival hopes.
Dolphins occupy the 15th position on the log, while Sharks sit in 17th place.
CAN VICTOR EZEJI SHINE ON HEARTLAND DEBUT?
Veteran forward, Victor Ezeji, is set to play his first game for Heartland after he was granted permission to link up with the Naze Millionaires by the League Management Company.
It will be interesting to see if the forward can make it a dream debut for the Owerri-based outfit by scoring against relegation haunted Bayelsa United in Oghara.
CAN SUNSHINE STARS MAKE HOME GROUND A FORTRESS AGAIN?
With second and third placed sides, Warri Wolves and Wikki Tourists, facing difficult away fixtures against Enyimba and Kano Pillars respectively, Sunshine Stars have a chance to improve their position on the log should both lose their respective games.
The Owena Waves, who won 17 consecutive games at the Akure Township Stadium, have failed to win their last two fixtures at the ground, and will be desperate to end that negative run when they host Abia Warriors on Sunday.
CAN ADENIJI, EJIKE END GOAL DROUGHT?
Sunshine Stars’ forward Tunde Adeniji and his Heartland counterpart Bright Ejike have endured a barren spell in the last couple of weeks.
They have now been overtaken by Nasarawa United’s Esosa Igbinoba who tops the scorers chart with 14 goals.
Adeniji has scored 13 goals, while Ejike has hit the back of the net 12 times.
It will be interesting to see if they can end the drought this weekend.
