Team Congo are optimistic of at least a gold medal in karate at the on-going All Africa Games here in Brazzaville.
The hosts who are yet to know what colour gold medal is as regards the All Africa Games since hosting the first edition in 1965, are banking on Innocent Okemba to pull bring them glory in the event.
“We have not won a gold medal in the All Africa Games but we won five medals in the last edition in Mozambique,” Cleves Nkie-Mongo, a Congolese sports journalist, told completesportsnigeria.com.
“This time we are optimistic of winning at least a gold medal particularly in Karate.”
Pressed to expatiate on his claims, he said: “We have a good karateka in Innocent Okemba.
“He can give us a gold in that event and he has worked real hard. He won a silver medal in Mozambique.”
The name Okemba sounds like Nigerian name but Nkie-Mongo was quick to clarify that he is a full blooded Congolese.
“No, no, no, Okemba is a Congolese, not a Nigerian,” he said.
