The Vice-President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Ibrahim Zango, has stated that the federation is targeting seven gold medals at this year’s All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo.
Zango made this known to completesportsnigeria.com on Saturday, the final day of the 1st Kenneth Minimah National Open Boxing Championship, in Lagos.
He said the federation will leave no stone unturned in making sure the feat is achieved.
“Our target for the All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville is seven gold medals,” he told completesportsnigeria.com. “And we are banking on both the men and women boxers to achieve it for us.
“And on the part of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, we are going to make sure we put everything in place in order for this target is achieved.”
Zango who went on to express his delight with the way the competition has turned out, promised that the best boxers will be selected to represent Nigeria.
“In the course of the National Open Boxing Championship, a lot of champions were defeated. That is to show that we have quality boxers who are not even known. And this is an indication that we are going to select the best boxers for Nigeria ahead of the games.”
