Former Nigeria international, Mutiu Adepoju has advised the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to get the Super Eagles team busy this year, despite the fact that the national team failed to qualify for any major international.
As the Super Eagles get set to run the race of the year without any involvement in major international assignments, Adepoju said “Though it’s painful we would see AFCON tournament holding without Nigeria but we should just see it from a positive angle” he begins.
“Left to me, I would expect the NFF to get the team so busy that the efforts will help in getting a better team next year when another qualifying series start”.
“The team needs lots of friendly matches in order to be well fine-tuned, rather than folding our hands doing nothing all because we have nothing to prepare for in terms of competition this year”.
“So far we have had one friendly match which was against the Ivorians; well that’s good but however, I would want more of such games for the team throughout this year to avoid idleness in the team”.
“For me, it’s really a perfect time to re-brand our national team. Obviously, we are not under any pressure to prepare for any competition this year, so in that case I think getting the team busy will produce us a solid team ahead next year assignments”.
