New Super Eagles invitee Uche Agbo has expressed gratitude to national team coach Gernot Rohr for picking him as replacement for injured Leon Balogun even as he vowed not to disappoint in the World Cup qualifier against Zambia on October 9.
The Granada told Completesportsnigeria.com in a chat from his base in Spain that the invite came to him as a surprise even as says he would work his way to impress the coaches and cement a place in the starting team.
“It was a big surprise to me when the new Eagles manager called me to inform me of my inclusion in the team that will play Zambia, I thanked him and I made up my mind to fight for a place knowing full well that there are so many good players in the squad,” Agbo told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I have been working very hard for my club and I hope to bring my hard work to bear in the Eagles by getting my debut. I am happy and raring to go and prove myself. By the grace of God, the Eagles will win in Ndola and go ahead to pick a World Cup ticket. I am just happy to get a call and I will reciprocate the gesture by playing well.”
On his club form, the former Enyimba FC star said he has been getting accolades from his club officials and fans every week, stressing that he will continue to work hard to improve and help the club to achieve success. Agbo has started four of Granada’s five games this season
Meanwhile, Agbo is expected to arrive in Abuja on Sunday, October 2 for the game against Zambia.
