Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu, has told completesportsnigeria.com that Carl Ikeme and Ikechukwu Ezenwa are good enough to stand in for No.1 choice Vincent Enyeama against Tanzania on Satutday.
Enyeama pulled out of the game against the Taifa Stars due to the death of his mother.
His absence has come as a blow to Nigeria’s aspiration of winning the crucial tie as he has churned out a series of impressive displays for the former African champions in recent years.
The technical crew now have to make a decision on who to man the post between Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Ikeme and the home-based Ezenwa on Saturday, but Agu, himself a former national team goalkeeper, told completesportsnigeria.com that the other goalkeepers are capable of standing in for the bereaved skipper.
“It’s sad that Vincent won’t be part of the team against Tanzania, but the other goalkeepers are good enough to take his place,”Agu told completesportsnigeria.com.
“It’s a good chance for them to show they are a capable replacement for Vincent because he will retire from international football one day.
“We sympathise with him on the death of his mother and hope he will be available in subsequent games.”
