Nigeria Professional Football League All-Stars captain Chima Akas says the side can be proud of their performance against Valencia in their first game of the La Liga tour, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The NPFL side put up a brave fight despite going down to a 2-1 defeat against their hosts on Wednesday night.
Enyimba left-back Akas is delighted they were not disgraced by their more illustrious opponents in the encounter.
“One can never be happy losing a game but my joy is that we didn’t disgrace ourselves out there,” Akas told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Not many people gave us the chance to perform the way we did but we proved we can compete against the best sides in the world.
“It was a good experience for us and I hope we can build on that in our subsequent games.”
Also Kano Pillars defender Jamiu Alimi is thrilled with the experience he had featuring for the Nigerian Premier League All Stars on tour of Spain.
The 24-year-old who played for the NPFL All Stars team in their 2-1 loss to Valencia on Wednesday was also pleased with the opportunity to compete with the best in Spain.

“It was I’m amazing experience for us, we lost but we are proud of our performance, this tour has given us an opportunity to contest among the best,” Alimi tweeted.
The team is now expected to move to Cadiz where they will take on Malaga in their first game of the Ramon de Carranza Tournament on Friday.
