Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala was on target for Oostende who beat Anderlecht 4-2 in the Belgian play-offs on Sunday.
Akpala scored in the seventh minute to put Oostende 1-0 up.
The goal was Akpala’s seventh league goal in 30 appearances for Oostende.
In another play-off game, Moses Simon was an unused substitute for 10-man Gent who beat home side Genk 2-1.
On parade for Genk was Wilfred Ndidi, who featured for 90 minutes in the game.
In the English Premier League, Alex Iwobi was in action for Arsenal who were held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Iwobi, who has scored two EPL goals this season, later made way for Theo Walcott in the 71st minute.
Still in England, it was heartbreak for Odion Ighalo as Watford lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final.
Ighalo, who has been experiencing a goal drought of late, saw 90 minutes of football but could not prevent Watford from going down.
In the Italian Serie A, Ogenyi Onazi was in Lazio’s starting 11 who lost 2-1 to Sampdoria.
Onazi featured throughout the 90 minutes of the game.
Leon Balogun made an appearance for Mainz in their 2-1 away defeat to Frankfurt who were playing at home.
Balogun was on for the full duration of the game.
In Turkey, Super Eagles defender Godfrey Oboabona was in the Rizespor side that lost 3-1 to Konyaspor.
He played 90 minutes for Rizespor in the loss.
And in Russia former Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa featured for CSKA in their 1-0 home win against Dinamo Moscow.
In another Russian game, the duo of Fegor Ogude and Bright Dike were in action for Amkar Perm who lost 1-0 at home ti Lokomotiv Moscow.
