Blackburn's Nigerian midfielder Hope Akpan has been charged by the Football Association for violent conduct in Tuesday's 2-1 Championship defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The 25-year-old Akpan pushed referee Scott Duncan after he ruled out the player's late equaliser for handball, and the Super Eagles star was subsequently shown a straight red card by the official for misconduct.
Akpan has until 6pm next Monday to respond to the charges.
He faces a standard three-match ban for the red card which will see him miss Blackburn Rovers' FA Cup tie with Manchester United on Sunday.
The FA could also extend the ban based on the gravity of the offence.Uncover how I make $750 weekly on Facebook using never been revealed Social Media tools.
