Daniel Akpeyi is confident Warri Wolves can make history by becoming the first Nigerian side to lift the CAF Confederation Cup.
No team from the West African nation has won the second-tier CAF club competition, with the likes of Enugu Rangers, Dolphins and Sunshine Stars coming close on a number of occasions.
The Seasiders will be guests of Congolese outfit Athletic Club Leopards de Dolisie in the first leg, playoff tie of the competition on Sunday, at the 20,000-seat Stade Denis Sassou Nguesso.
And Akpeyi is not only keen for his side to progress to the group stage but also emerge winners.
“It's good to have come this far in the competition, but we are looking to go all the way by winning the trophy,” the Super Eagles goalkeeper told completesportsnigeria.com.
''It will be nice if we can manage to become the first club from Nigeria to achieve the feat and I believe it's not beyond us. But we have to take it a step at a time. First, we have to get into the group stage and then take it up from there."
The Congolese side are no strangers to Nigerian clubs, having eliminated Heartland from the same competition in 2012 on away goals.
