Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is confident that his team will pick up points against Liverpool on Saturday if they can repeat their performance against Manchester City in midweek.
The Black Cats remained in the relegation zone after losing 1-0 to Man City on Tuesday, but Allardyce was encouraged by his team’s display at the Stadium of Light.
Next up for the strugglers is a trip to Liverpool this weekend, with Jurgen Klopp’s side also currently low on confidence.
“The performance was there against Manchester City but there was disappointment because we didn’t take anything from the game but if we continue to play to that level, we will start to pick up points,” Allardyce told reporters in Thursday’s press conference.
Sunderland have only collected 19 points from their 24 league games this season, which has left them in 19th spot in the table.
Allardyce confirmed that fit-again defender Younes Kaboul is set to return for the game against Liverpool while striker Jermain Defoe will be bouyed as he is nominated for the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award.
“Younes will be back in the squad but Seb Larsson is still having a little bit of trouble with the medial ligaments.
“Its turning out to be a lot longer than we expected and its obviously concerning for us. Hopefully he recovers shortly.
“Yann caught thr bottom of (Sergio) Aguero’s boot and has bruising so he hasn’t trained all day,” Allardyce revealed.
Meanwhile the game against Liverpool may be disrupted in the 77th minute as fans of Liverpool intend protesting against £77 price increment in tickets by the club’s management.REVERSE ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION Within 3Days And Make Her Happy Again!!
