–Banks On Nigeria’s Record In Congo
By James Agberebi:
Ahead of this weekend’s African U-23 Championship qualifier against Congo, U-23 Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu, has stated that Nigeria’s impressive record in Congo will be to his side’s advantage.
“We know them very well, this is not the first time we will be facing them right at their back yard, we’ve faced them on several occasions and secured wins,” Agu, a former Super Eagles goalkeeper, told completesportsnigeria.com.
“I remember the Super Eagles went there and got victory against their senior team last year. So, it is not a terrain we don’t know.”
He stated further: “Preparations are going on fine, we are working very hard and looking forward to the game.
“It is not about just home advantage, it’s about 11 against 11 and the team that wants it more, the team with determination and focus. That is what we are going to show in Congo and by the grace of God, we are going to come out victorious.”
In the first leg that was played in Port-Harcourt, Nigeria won 2-1 with Junior Ajayi grabbing both goals, while Moise Nkounkou scored for Congo.
