Spanish side Almeria have begun contract talks in earnest with Nigerian midfielder Ramon Azeez in a bid to keep him at club for the next four years.
Azeez who has two years left on his current deal has been the subject of unrelenting speculation with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Swansea credited with a serious interest in prising him from the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos.
“We will resume talks about Ramon’s future at Almeria,” a close source told FC Naija.
“If they don’t want him to leave, then I guess he deserves an improved contract with what they are proposing to us.” he concluded.
EPL side Swansea saw a £3million bid rejected by Almeria last summer and coach Juan Ignacio Martínez hasn’t hidden his admiration for the player.
Azeez, who scored two goals in 30 games for his side last term, has played nine La Liga games this term.
He was named the club’s young player of the season for the 2013/14 season.
