Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu will not feature for the D’Tigers at the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympics men’s football event due to unresolved insurance issues with the Nigerian Basketball Federation.
Aminu who is currently not with the team had sought for assurance from the NBBF should he sustain any form of injury while representing Nigeria in Rio.
But he did not get a favourable response according to Portland Trailblazers reporter Casey Holdahl.
Holdahl revealed that the 25-year-old pulled out of D’Tigers Rio-bound squad due to internal challenges in the team.
“Aminu states he will not participate due to continued and unresolved organizational challenges with the Nigerian Basketball Federation,” Casey Holdahl tweeted via his handle @CHold.
Also missing out for D’Tigers squad is Aminu’s Portland teammate Festus Ezeli for the same reason.
Completesportsnigeria.com can report that his older brother, Alade, made the final 12 man squad for the games.
