Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has stated that the team’s aim is to defend the FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy Nigeria won in 2013 in the United Arab Emirates.
Speaking with completesportsnigeria.com, Amuneke, urged football fans in Nigeria to support the Eaglets by praying for them so that they can achieve their set target.
“We want every Nigerian to support us with prayers hopefully when we get to Chile, at the the of it all, we will give thanks to God.
“As we know, football is the only thing that brings joy to us and collectively, we want to see how we can achieve our objective which is to defend the Cup. And hopefully when we come back, Nigerians will be happy which is the most important,” Amuneke told completesportsnigeria.com.
Former Nigeria winger Amuneke added: “We will do our best as human beings and live the rest to God to sought out because in football, you don’t come out and boast.”
The Eaglets will take on hosts Chile, USA and Croatia in the group stage of the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
At the Suwon four-nation Invitational Tournament in South Korea, the Eaglets finished third behind Brazil and Croatia.
