By Bamidele Boluwaji:
National U-17 Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke has admitted that the performance of the team at the just concluded CAF U-17 Championship in Niger will make the team to work harder ahead of the FIFA U -17 World Cup in Chile.
Speaking to Complete Sports yesterday, the former Barcelona of Spain player said he did not expect that his team would not be among the best three at the tournament but accepts responsibility for the team’s performance while assuring that they will be better before the World Cup.
“We have gone and come back, it was unfortunate we did not return with the trophy but I will appeal to Nigerians and also assure them that the team will get better before the World Cup in Chile”, says the former Super Eagles player.
“Nobody is happy about the result but it is a wake-up call for the players and I am sure that everyone has learned from that tournament.
“What we saw there will make us to work harder and we can only pray for God’s favour while we keep working hard.
Amuneke could not however confirmed to Complete Sports if there is going to be drastic change in the team but insisted the coaching crew will work on the team.
“I cannot say if there is going to be drastic change in the team for now but we will sit down to review all the matches we played before we know the next action.
