Amuneke: Flying Eagles, Burundi Tie Not Yet Over

Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke has stated that his team is not yet guaranteed qualification despite defeating Burundi 1-0 in the first leg of the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Bujumbura.

Chukwudi Agor's solitary strike secured the vital away win for the Flying Eagles on Saturday.

The delegation comprising 18 players and twelve officials touched down at the Nnamdi Azikwe international Airport Abuja at 11.35am on Monday and drove straight from the Airport to their Serob Legacy Hotel camp.

In a chat with thenff.com, Amuneke pointed out that his team still have a lot of work to do before qualification for the 2017 U-20 AFCON is assured.

"Success has many friends. Today we are happy because we have brought smiles to the faces of Nigerians but as I have always emphasized, the journey is still very long and we must take each game as they come," Amuneke said.

"We are done with the first leg, we must return to work immediately ahead of the return leg. It is only when we have gone past that hurdle that we can breathe a sigh of relief but even then, we still have Sudan to play in July to guarantee a spot at the CAF U-20 Nations cup in Zambia."

Meanwhile, the team will return to full training on Tuesday evening before departing on Wednesday to Calabar, venue of the June 11 return leg tie against Burundi.
