Amuneke Plays Down CAF Award Snub, Hails Osimhen’s Win

By James Agberebi:

FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015 winning coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has stated that he is unperturbed about not being picked as Coach of the Year in the Glo-CAF awards on Thursday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Amuneke lost out to French coach Herve Renard, who led Cote d'Ivoire to the Africa Cup of Nations win last year in Equatorial Guinea.

In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, Amuneke said that the fact that he got nominated was enough for him.

"Losing out on the award for Coach of the Year, to me is nothing. The fact that I got nominated showed that my achievement was recognized.

"I just have to continue doing what I know how to do best and also improving myself as a coach," the 1994 African Player of the Year told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Amunenke also hailed Victor Osimhen for emerging the Youth Player of the Year, 2015.

"I congratulate Osimhen, he has done well for the country and for himself. What more can I say, it's just for him to use this to launch himself to the next level, in order to have a great football career," Amuneke said.
