Tuesday was the day earmarked for Carlo Ancelotti to sit down with Florentino Pérez and definitively learn whether or not his future still lies at Real Madrid. All the Italian coach received, however, was complete and utter silence with no hint forthcoming, either publicly or privately, with regard to his position at the club, marca.com reports.
Ancelotti is working on the premise of business as usual but he knows that the continued stonewalling and rumours do not bode well as far as his wish to stay at Real Madrid is concerned.
The latest name to appear on the list of potential candidates for the post is that of Rafa Benítez. The Napoli coach looks unlikely to renew with his current club and rumours have begun to gather pace in recent hours, particularly in Italy.
Benitez has been linked with Florentino Perez's Real Madrid on a couple of occasions in the past, even entering the running for the 'Los Blancos' hotseat during the brief reign of Fernando Martin.
There are various options on the table and new rumours emerge almost daily, all pointing in different directions.
