Arsenal’s seven-game winning streak has launched them to the top of the European form table.
The Gunners stunned Liverpool 4-1 on Saturday to go second in the Premier League and raise the prospect of a late tilt at the title and boss Arsene Wenger has been delighted with their recent run.
“If there were 15 games to go, you would not complain,” he said.
Whether Arsenal’s championship challenge has come too late – they sit seven points behind leaders Chelsea, having played one game more – remains to be seen.
But, nonetheless, their recent results deserve credit.
From Europe’s top five leagues, only Lazio can match the Gunners’ perfect record in their last seven league games. Going on each team’s performance in their last six domestic outings, Lazio and Arsenal are clear of the chasing pack, although the Italians have a marginally better goal difference.
