Kieran Gibbs came off the bench to rescue a valuable point for Arsenal who drew 1-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s Premier League North London derby at the Emirates Stadium.
On as a 74th minute substitute, Gibbs pulled away from Kyle Walker to nudge in Mesut Ozil’s brilliant cross for his first goal of the season after Harry Kane had given the visitors the lead in the 34th minute.
It was Kane’s sixth goal in four games in all competitions for Spurs.
Both sides started the encounter brightly and enjoyed forays into the opposition final third, but there were no clear cut chance until the 20th minute when Christian Eriksen fired a shot which flew wide of the right post.
Five minutes later Eric Dier came close after creating himself some space in front of goal and connecting with a corner, but his header sailed inches wide.
Spurs went on to take the lead just after the half-hour mark as Danny Rose’s clever ball over the top was met by Kane, who showed good composure inside the box to bury the ball into the back of the net.
The results see Arsenal second on the log with 26 points from 12 games same with leaders Manchester City but with an inferior goal difference to the Citizens.
Tottenham climbed to fifth with 21 points from the same number of games. With 1xBet you get High Odds, Fast Payouts, Wide Selection of Sports Events, Online Streaming and Huge Bonuses... sign up now.
