The Football Association have handed Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista a one-match ban for misconduct during the bad-tempered Premier League clash against Chelsea.
Gabriel had his red card during the match rescinded upon appeal, but faced a charge for his reluctance to leave the pitch.
The FA announced the decision in a statement on Friday: “Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct.
The charge relates to Gabriel’s behaviour following his dismissal in or around the 45th minute of the game against Chelsea on Saturday [September 19, 2015].
The player, who requested a personal hearing, was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct.
Consequently, Gabriel will be suspended for the Premier League match at Leicester City on Saturday.”
