Awoniyi Rues Missed Goal On FSV Frankfurt Debut

Taiwo Awoniyi is delighted to to have played his first game for German Bundesliga 2 side, FSV Frankfurt, although he would have liked to score, can report.
The Nigeria youth international who is on loan at Frankfurt from English Premier League side Liverpool was introduced in place of Yann Rollin in the 46th minute of Friday’s friendly against Mainz which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Awoniyi, who was one of the few bright spots in the Flying Eagles’ poor campaign at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, came close to scoring a goal for his side in the 75th minute of the encounter but is happy that he has finally made his debut for the club.
“I’m happy I have finally played my first game for the club (FSV Frankfurt),” he told
“I was determined to get a goal to make it a memorable start, but things didn’t come my way.
“That’s not a problem as we still have more games ahead of us this season.
