The Taraba FC boss who spoke to Complete Sports said it is necessary for the team to win the first match in the qualifying series while calling on Coach Stephen Keshi to make the best selection for the match billed to hold on June 13.
He has also urged the coaching crew to learn from the 2015 edition which Nigeria failed to attend following the players inability to qualify for the African showpiece.
“I think we should begin this qualifier with a different mentality because the players’ inability to qualify Nigeria for the last edition really affected our football and they should try as much as possible to avoid such mistake this time around”, begins the former Ajax Amsterdam of Holland winger
“The players must also make sure that they did not underrate any team particularly the first match against Chad, they need to win that match to show their readiness for the 2017 AFOCN.
While advising the Super Eagles players, Babangida has also called on Coach Stephen Keshi to ensure he qualifies Nigeria for the 2017 edition.
“Our selection matters a lot and if Keshi can select the best that can win the match, then we will have rest of mind that the team will qualify for the next AFCON.
