Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Babayaro, has predicted a tough match between the U23 Eagles and Congo in the first leg of the Olympic Games qualifier holding today at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium Port Harcourt, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The game is billed for the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium, in Port Harcourt.
In a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com, the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games gold medalist, however expressed belief in Coach Samson Siasia’s ability to lead the team to victory.
“The game against Congo is more like an acid test. This will be a Congo side that would be very resilient, so I am looking forward to a tough game, Babayaro predicted.
“But I am confident Siasia knows what he has to do. And I must say I am a little bit impressed when I found out that he will be using more of home-based players, instead of relying on the overseas-based players.
“I believe with the experience of Siasia who has been at the Olympics, coupled with the commitment and focus on the part of the players, they will emerge victorious.”
The winner between the Dream Team and Congo, will qualify for the African U-23 Championship in Senegal later in the year.
