South Africa captain Janine Van Wyk says the side can he proud of their performance despite going down to a 1-0 defeat against Nigeria in their semi-final fixture at the Africa Women's Cup of Nations on Tuesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Banyana Banyana were in ascendancy for the better parts of the game but couldn't turn their dominance into a win.
But despite the disappointment of going out of the competition, Van Wyk insisted that they can hold their heads high following their spirited display in the encounter.
"I don't care what anyone says. Banyana Banyana played some quality football. Disappointing result but definetly proud of the team," she wrote on her Twitter handle.
The Banyana Banyana will face Ghana in the third place match, while Nigeria and South Africa will battle for the title on Sunday.
