Bayelsa United hierarchy will hold a crisis management meeting on Wednesday to decide who takes over as head coach of the struggling Premier league club, Completesportsnigeria.com has been informed.
The club on Tuesday parted company with Evans Ogenyi following the team’s 1-0 defeat by Sharks in a match day 25 clash in Oghara.
Completesportsnigeria.com was informed by an official of the club that a high level management meeting has been slated for Wednesday to take a proper look at the present technical crew, with a view to deciding those who will be retained and those that will face the exit door like Ogenyi.
“We have not decided on Ogenyi’s replacement. We’ve not also decided if any of the assistant coaches or who amongst them that will succeed him,” Eddy Ohis, Media Officer of the club told Completesportsnigeria.com on Tuesday.
“Instead, the management will meet on Wednesday to decide who goes with Ogenyi and who remains amongst the coaches”.
Ohis revealed that Ogenyi was indeed on probation at the club, and has not convinced the club he has what it takes to salvage the sinking club.
“He came on a kind of rescue mission. We offered him ‘probation’ appointment and he has not done well enough to deserve a permanent job.
“He has played nine matches since he came, but has not won any of those games. The management therefore felt it was necessary to release him,” the club said through the Media Officer..
Since the start of the season, three coaches have been hired and fired by the club. They include Solomon Ogbeide, George Ederekumoh and Evans Ogenyi.
