Karim Benzema has sprained a ligament in his right knee and will therefore be unavailable for tonight’s game against Atlético de Madrid.
The French forward joins the queue for Real’s treatment room behind Luka Modric, who also has a sprained knee, and Gareth Bale, who has a calf injury to his left leg. Marcelo, who is suspended, will also not be able to play.
Benzema picked up his injury in the first-leg game of the Champions League quarter-finals and had to sit out the following league game against Málaga. The last training session that he tried to carry out with his teammates was on Friday, when he appeared with considerable bandaging to his knee. Unfortunately, the player couldn’t continue and went back indoors after only a few minutes.
