BIG KICK-OFF: 5 Things To Look Out For On NPFL Matchday One

Completesportsnigeria.com’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) expert ADEBOYE AMOSU continues the preview of the 2015/2016 season as he highlights the key issues of the opening weekend…

CAN ENYIMBA CONTINUE THEIR IMPRESSIVE RUN IN GARDEN CITY?
Defending champions, Enyimba, have escaped Port Harcourt unscathed in their last four meetings against Rivers United.
The Peoples Elephant beat the Pride of Rivers 2-1 last season and have drawn the other three games.
The last time the Aba Millionaires lost in Port Harcourt was on March 12, 2011 when they were defeated 2-1 by their hosts.
They will be out to maintain that proud record when they confront Stanley Eguma’s men on Sunday.

CAN SHOOTING STARS MAKE IT FIVE OUT FIVE AGAINST LOBI STARS?
Lobi Stars have a poor record against Shooting Stars at the Lekan Salami Stadium. The Pride of Benue have lost to 3SC on their last four visits to the ground.
The big question ahead of Sunday’s game will be whether the Oluyole Warriors can continue their dominance over their guests.

HOW WILL THE LEAGUE NEW BOYS FARE?
Newcomers, Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes, will set the ball rolling when they slug it out at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Saturday.
Ikorodu United and MFM, two Lagos-based clubs who will be playing their first games in the top flight, will be up against Abia Warriors and Nasarawa United on Sunday.
It will be interesting to see how the quartet cope with the pressure and challenge of Premier League football on the opening matchday of the campaign.

AKWA UNITED OUT TO MAKE BIG STATEMENT
The Promise Keepers emerged the surprise winners of the Super Four competition and also won the Charity Shield at the expense of Enyimba.
Maurice Cooreman’s side also secured a valuable 1-0 away win in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary round fixture against Vita Club Mokanda of Congo last weekend.
They travel to Akure where they will come up against Sunshine Stars on Sunday. Though not among the favourites to lift the title, a positive result for the Uyo-based side will further boost their profile.
