By Adeboye Amosu:
Newly promoted sides Plateau United and Niger Tornadoes will kick off the action in the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Tornadoes beat their hosts 1-0 in the final of the National League Super Four in Abuja last year and will be out to start their campaign on a winning note.
Both clubs have not made a notable signing during the off season. Benin international, Salomon Junior, has linked up with Plateau United from relegated Bayelsa United, while their opponents have kept faith with the majority of the players that helped them gain promotion to the top flight.
Defending champions Enyimba who have looked far from their best in all their competitive games so far this year are away to newly rechristened Rivers United FC.
The Peoples Elephant have not lost any game to their hosts in their last four visits to the Garden City.
New handler of Enyimba, Paul Aigbogun, will have a tough task picking his squad for the game.
He will have to decide who mans the post between the trio of Moses Ocheje, Theophilus Afelokhai and Olufemi Thomas.
The former Warri Wolves coach will face the same problem in the other departments where there are a number of top quality players to pick from.
Former champions Kano Pillars will entertain Rangers at the Sani Abacha Stadium in one of the biggest games of match day one.
Pillars have recruited well with the likes of Jamiu Alimi, Prince Aggreh, Chris Madaki, Ifeanyi Matthew and Manir Ubale now at the club.
Rangers have also recently acquired the services of Bright Esieme and Chimezie Amanfor from Enyimba.
Warri Wolves who have lost virtually all their key players from last season will keep a date with Heartland in Owerri.
It will be the baptism of fire for the newly assembled technical crew of the side led by Peter Nieketien.
In Akure, Sunshine Stars will seek to stop in-form Akwa United from improving on their impressive start to the season.
The Promise Keepers won the Super 4 and picked a valuable away win in their debut game in the CAF Confederation Cup last weekend.
Sunshine Stars who have a new coach, Samson Unanuel, in charge have seen key players like Prince Aggreh, Paul Onobi and Tunde Adeniji depart the club.
Shooting Stars will welcome Lobi Stars to the Lekan Salami Stadium, while El-kanemi Warriors and Wikki Tourists will clash in the all-northern affair in Katsina.
The Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos will come alive as Giwa FC who narrowly missed out on a continental ticket last season will file out against FC IfeanyiUbah.
Nasarawa United are at home against newly promoted side MFM FC, with Ikorodu United, another new comer, hosting Abia Warriors at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos.
