Ex Green Eagles Goalkeeper Salutes Governor Fashola
Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Okala has described winners of this year’s Federation Cup Heartland of Owerri as worthy champions.
“They deserve it because mother-luck was on their side. They did well and I must commend them for the effort. It wasn’t an easy game but at the end of the day, they did well enough to emerge victorious, kudos to them.”
Okala who was a member of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winning team, and was among the several veterans of the Federation Cupfew honoured by NFF during this year’s edition, thanked the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola for a job well done.
“We thank God for someone like the Governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola who is working hard. He is a great sportsman because he deemed it right to remember people like us. May God continue to bless him and Lagos State".
“A lot of people have played in this Federation Cup without recognition, but he has decided to honour us. And I will like other Governors to try and emulate him for this gesture because things like this will make those playing in this competition now to be eager and hungry to be a part of it,” he said.
