Rangers Declare Ofoedu AWOL
Posted: Aug 31, 2012
Premier League leading top scorer, Chikeluba Ofoedu has been declared absent without official leave, AWOL, by the management of his club, Rangers.
An official of the club, Foster Chime, said Ofoedu absconded from the team's camp in Enugu to embark on trials in Turkey since August 26 without the consent and approval of the management of the Coal City Flying Antelopes.
"We have reported the matter to the NPL, and he will lose his August salary, while his balance of 2012 sign-on-fee will also be withheld, " Chime fumed.
It would be recalled that the same Ofoedu had previously embarked on some unsuccessful trials in Turkey earlier in the season.
His absence means he will not be available for coach Emordi's selection when they host Sharks in the last but crucial Premier League week 38 game on September 7 in Enugu.
