ONOCHUKWU URGES EAGLES TO ROAST LIBERIA
Posted: Sep 30, 2012
FC Banik striker, Ebu Onuchukwu has urged the Super Eagles to go for the kill when they host Liberia’s Lone Stars in the winner-takes all AFCON 2013 qualifier next month in Calabar.
In a chat with Complete Sports from his base recently, Onuchukwu expressed confidence in the ability of coach Stephen Keshi to dig deeply into his technical bag of tricks and come up with tactics that will ensure Nigeria book a ticket to AFCON 2013.
The lanky striker who was missing in Banik’s 2-2 draw with FK Mladá Boleslav on Saturday, posited that with the return of Chelsea midfield maestro , John Mikel Obi, the Super Eagles should have no problem overcoming their opponent, adding that the presence of the Blues strongman will help inspire Nigeria to victory.
“I am looking forward to that game with all anticipation; it is a game that must be won at all costs because we cannot afford not to qualify for the next Nations Cup. I have much belief in Coach Stephen Keshi and I know he will come up with a winning formula against Liberia. Liberia is no threat to Nigeria and should therefore be taught football lessons. I am happy Mikel is back in the fray now and should inspire the team to victory,” he said.
