IK Uche Targets More Goals Against Sporting Gijon

Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche responded to the challenge I threw at him last weekend in this column, by grabbing his first goal for Villareal in the 2-0 win over Cordoba last week.

The goal helped push Villareal to the second spot on the league table and was also special in that it marked Villareal’s 300th goal in the Spanish Segunda division.

The skillful Nigerian forward was delighted at his club and personal progress as he looks forward hopefully to another ‘goalrious’ outing tomorrow when Villareal go on the road trip to Sporting Gijon.

After Sunday’s game, Uche would be heading back to Nigeria for next week’s cracker against Liberia and coach Stephen Keshi would be delighted at the form of the player who has been the Eagles arrowhead in recent times.
