Boxing: Ajagba Wins Nigeria’s Only African Gold As Linus Misses Olympics

Efe Ajagba claimed N8geria’s only gold but Caroline Linus missed the chance to represent Nigeria at the Rio Olympic Games after losing in the final of the AIBA Africa Olympic qualifiers in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Fighting in the women’s flyweight category, Linus lost to Morocco’s Zohra Ez-Zahraoui to crash out.

Ez-Zahraoui will be representing Morocco in Brazil along with her compatriots Hasnaa Lachgar and Khadija Mardi who also won their final bouts.

MAjagba, who had already qualified for the Olympics, won gold in the men’s super heavyweight class.

Ajagba defeated Mohammed Arjaoui from Morocco to land the gold.
