Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba are through to the first round of the CAF Champions League following a 2-0 win against Vipers Sports Club of Uganda on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant secured their passage on a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.
The hosts were frustrated in the opening part of the game as Vipers who were determined to preserve their slim 1-0 first leg lead kept them at bay.
Mfon Udoh broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute from the spot to calm frayed nerves inside the stadium.
Vipers resulted into time wasting in the second half looking to take the game into a penalty shoot-out.
Their resolve was however broken when Udoh grabbed his second of the evening to send his side through to the next round.
Stephen Chukwude and Razak Aliyu, who came in for the impressive Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, wasted clear cut opportunities to increase Enyimba’s lead late in the second half.
