Scottish champions Celtic are on the verge of hijacking Hearts’ bid for Nigerian left-back Juwon Oshaniwa.
Oshaniwa who is out of contract with already relegated Ashdod FC in Israel, has been among Celtic’s transfer targets since the turn of the year.
According to dailyrecord.co.uk, Celtic have already started negotiations with his agent but Sheffield Wednesday and Turkish side Bursaspor are also on his trail.
It was reported that Celtic tried to lure him to Scotland in January and are back in the running despite interest from Tynecastle.
Reacting to the transfer talks, Oshaniwa who confirmed that he will be leaving Ashdod, confirmed that there are indeed interests for his service.
“I am aware of it. My club president confirmed the official proposal from Hearts and let me know talks are still on to seal the deal alongside my agent Ladi Salami in the UK,” he said.
“And my agent confirmed the interest of Celtic and from Sheffield Wednesday.
“I will be so glad to leave for greener pastures to meet up with my goal in a well-developed league to improve on the status I have got in the world of football.
“And I am very sure I can achieve my aim with these clubs. But my mind is made up to leave Ashdod in this summer’s transfer window in as much as the deal terms are met with and sealed with any of these clubs.”
