Former Cameroon skipper, Rigobert Song, has been appointed as the new coach of Super Eagles 2017 Africa Cup of Nations group opponents Chad.
Song, 39, takes over from sacked French coach Emmanuel Tregoat, Cameroun media reported on Tuesday.
Speaking on the task of qualifying Chad for the 2017 AFCON, Song admitted that it would be tough.
“It’s not going to be an easy task to qualify for the 2017 Nations Cup but we are prepared to give our best,” he said.
Song’s first assignment will be against Tanzania in Dar Es Salaam in March 2016. They will also host the Super Eagles in 2016, having lost the first leg 2-0 to Nigeria in Kaduna.
Chad sit bottom of the AFCON qualifying group behind Egypt, Nigeria and Tanzania.
A former Liverpool defender, Song won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with Cameroon in 2000 and 2002.
Song represented Cameroon at four World Cups, in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010.
He retired from international duty on 1 August 2010 after 137 appearances.
